Texas A&M vs Ole Miss close to being cancelled?

Texas A&M’s all-important clash with Ole Miss could be cancelled after the Mississippi school had to close practice on Wednesday due to COVID-19 cases.

“Out of an abundance of caution, Ole Miss has cancelled Wednesday’s team practices to conduct contract tracing surrounding a small number of positive cases among players and staff”, a statement from the school said, adding that practice was scheduled to start again Thursday.

The day before Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin said: “We just got hit with a few of them yesterday,” Kiffin said. You’ve always got to have plans in place for that because, as you guys know, with that you never know what’s going to happen.”

Texas A&M fans must be dreading this news. After cases in College Station helped to cause the SEC to realign its calendar, now Ole Miss could cause it all over again.

The Aggies need the Ole Miss game dreadfully, because it will keep them in the College Football Play-Off Committee’s eye of sight.

If their game gets called off and summarily cancelled (the SEC actually doesn’t have any wiggle room for games now), then this could hurt the program’s chances of play-0ff football.

Imagine what might happen if it was eight teams…..
