SEC Week 10 Rankings: Texas A&M fans, please don’t worry

I’m not a voter in the College Football Play-Off, but I still managed to piss off a bunch of Texas A&M fans by putting Florida ahead of the Aggies my SEC rankings.

The reason? The Aggies last played on November 7th. Jeez, that’s a long time ago. Florida played last week against Vanderbilt. And yes, although Texas A&M beat Florida in the Dan Mullen Whining Game, right now Florida’s playing better football because…..Texas A&M keeps on getting COVID.

But when it all finishes up – and everyone gets to play their 10 game schedule (Ha! Ha! Fat chance!) – then Texas A&M would be above Florida.

Anyway, so here’s how we go.

  1. Alabama (7-0): Best team in the country. The offense is rolling and the defense – while bending – is improving. ‘Nuff said.
  2. Florida (6-1): Dan Mullen is an offensive genius and Todd Grantham is one of the most offensive defensive coordinators in the country (and has been for years), and both are the same. Florida is a very good team, and it’s on its way to a SEC Championship Game.
  3. Texas A&M (6-1): Can you remember a time when Texas A&M played football on a Saturday? Hmmm? Funnily enough…if Alabama and Texas A&M win out, the Aggies could well get into the College Football Play-Off.
  4. Georgia (5-2): JT Daniels feels like a breath of fresh air (ie can actually throw the ball). I expect the Dawgs to roll until the end of the season.
  5. Auburn (5-2): Auburn is unpredictable as ever. While I expect them to put up some points against Alabama, the injury to Tank Bigsby’s going to hammer Gus Malzahn’s plans.
  6. Missouri (3-3): The Tigers weren’t great against South Carolina, but Eli Drinkwitz has already hit the Vegas Over/Under of his wins at 3. He’s now playing with House Money.
  7. Ole Miss (3-4): You could switch Missouri and Ole Miss, but Missouri’s actually got a defense.
  8. LSU (3-3): Actually looked pretty good against Arkansas. Got more than a little lucky with Feliepe Franks’ slip on the goal-line, but the win may well have breathed some life into the team. They will probably go 2-2 to finish the season, looking at the schedule, but TJ Finley has given LSU half a hope.
  9. Arkansas (3-5): The Razorbacks get hit over and over again by terrible SEC reffing calls, but they also hit themselves over and over again with terrible offense.
  10. Kentucky (3-5): The Wildcats are on a slide at the moment, and the mistakes offensively and defensively are suddenly becoming more and more apparent.
  11. Mississippi State (2-5): The Cowbellers deserve a lot of credit for their battling performance at Georgia, but I don’t see things – results-wise – getting better.
  12. South Carolina (2-6): Kevin Harris is still a stud, and while Luke Doty gave them some hope on Saturday night against Missouri, the Gamecocks are still, ahem, terrible.
  13. Tennessee (2-5): The Vols beat the Gamecocks on the first game of the year, but since then, the Vols have slid and slid and slid. Vanderbilt must have been fancying their chances on Saturday IF IT WASN’T FOR DAMNED COVID.
  14. Vanderbilt (0-7): Vanderbilt showed signs of improvement against Florida, but they aren’t a good side.
