After Week 3: Ranking the SEC

When the refs steal the a lot of the game’s limelight, you know that the reffing was terrible. And in the Mississippi State vs Memphis Penn State vs Auburn clashes, they were beyond terrible.

No, stupid press releases about how these dumbf**ks screwed up the call might make the SEC feel better, but these guys should be suspended. I mean, they are costing coaches their potential livelihoods here!

Apart from that – and that’s like saying: “Apart from that Mrs Lincoln, how was the play?” – here’s our SEC rankings.

  1. Georgia (3-0): The Dawgs look unbeatable at the moment. Sure, their secondary gave up 2 or 3 big plays to South Carolina, but the strength was meant to be the Gamecocks’ running game, but they only ran for 82 yards on 34 tries. Jordan Davis remains a beast in the middle. On the other side of the ball, JT Daniels threw for 303 yards, 3 TDs and a pick. Imagine what happens when even more talent comes in at receiver!
  2.  Alabama (3-0): I thought the Tide would absolutely roll Florida after their first half, but suddenly Florida woke up, and the Crimson Tide were in a dogfight. Tackles were missed, and Dan Mullen’s offense had the Tide battling it out. They came away with a 2-pt win, but Nick Saban was not happy. In truth, nor would I be, either.
  3.  Ole Miss (3-0): Ole Miss’ offense looks absolutely electric. Matt Corral is a Heisman contender. They beat the living daylights out of Tulane. And yes, the defense hasn’t been tested as yet, but still, this team’s really good.
  4. Florida (2-1): The Gators were exceptionally impressive by the end of the Alabama clash. You can’t help but think: ‘Why didn’t Emory Jones do that in the beginning?” Also, Florida’s got a great running game it can go back. It’s weak link will be Todd Grantham and his playcalling. The man sucks, and can’t teach a defense to tackle. Mind you, he couldn’t do that at Georgia or Mississippi State, either.
  5. Texas A&M (3-0): On the other hand to Ole Miss, Texas A&M is worrying in offense, but brilliant defensively. They have a murderers row facing opponents’ line of scrimmage, although whether Zach Calzada is the QB answer to prayers, we will see. Isaiah Spiller’s a stud, though.
  6.  Arkansas (3-0): Barry Odom’s defense is for real, but will the Razorbacks be any good against Texas A&M? The run game will probably get stuffed, which means the Razorbacks are going to have to rely on KJ Jefferson, who I’m not sure is that great.
  7.  Auburn (2-1): Despite the refs handing the Tigers many decisions at Penn State, the Tigers could not over come Happy Valley, losing 28-20. What we have noticed is how much better Bo Nix looks in the pocket under Brian Harsin. Tank Bigsby’s still a beast, yo.
  8.  Kentucky (3-0): The Wildcats struggled for long periods with UT-Chattanooga, and that’s not a great sign for them going forward. I don’t know whether Will Levis is the man at QB, because he’s started the season with 7 TDs and 4 INTs, and he hasn’t even faced good competition.
  9.  LSU (2-1): I don’t know what LSU is. The offensive line is a struggle bus. They still have one of the country’s best receivers in Kayshon Boutte, but the defense is terrible. Yes, the Tigers might have two straight wins, but aren’t we polishing a turd?
  10. Missouri (2-1): The Tigers are going to be thumped by their secondary all season long, because they can’t can’t catch an interception or tackle particularly well. Offensively, Tyler Badie is a Top 5 SEC running back, and Connor Bazelak is fine as sophomore. Nothing more.
  11.  Mississippi State (2-1): First of all, words could not possibly express how bad this call was by the refs in the Memphis vs MSU game. But it’s easy – by virtue of their struggles with Louisiana Tech at the start of the year – that Mississippi State simply isn’t a very good team. It has been pointed out that they are very young, though.
  12. South Carolina (2-1): The secondary has struggled because of transfers and two great players going to the NFL, but there was a bit of hope with the return of Luke Doty. The offense made a couple of nice passing plays against Georgia, and the running game won’t fine
  13. Tennessee (2-1): Hendon Hooker is a better answer at QB than Joe Milton, and Hendon Hooker isn’t very good. This UT team was absolutely battered by transfers, so we’re not expecting that much, although Josh Heupel’s pacy offense could be a lot of fun to watch. The defense is atrocious though.
  14. Vanderbilt (1-2): Battled with Stanford for a couple of touchdowns, and then Stanford woke up. The Commodores are a bad team, and Clark Lea’s got his work cut out if the ‘Dores are to get a SEC win not only this year but also next year too.
