SEC SCHEDULE FOR 2024 RELEASED

The SEC released their new, Texas and OU-expanded schedule. There are a lot of interesting games, and a lot of dullards. A lot of SEC fans have talked about Texas v Oklahoma being an exiting game because it’s now a S-E-C game, but if you weren’t excited about that match-up every year anyway, then you’re probably ignorant. The great thing about this schedule is that there are some cracker non-conference match-ups, including Texas going to Michigan, Florida v Miami, LSU v USC, Georgia v Clemson and Alabama’s trip to Wisconsin, as well as and an underrated monster in Arkansas going to Oklahoma State. Quick bowl reaction: Bama in, FSU/ Georgia out

After they beat Georgia in the National Championship Game and Florida State’s offense looked so ragged against Louisville, it seemed inevitable that Alabama was going to be the final team into the College Football Play-Off. They will play No.1 Michigan, while No.2 Washington and No.3 Texas face off in the other one. Georgia fans could moan about not being one of the best teams in, but they sank themselves by back-to-back not-great performances against Georgia Tech and Alabama respectively. In the end, they ended up No.6 in the nation, and will face Florida State in the Orange Bowl – something we suspect won’t have a lot of weight if you consider the amount of players who won’t play. Week 2 Rankings: Ole Miss rules, Georgia needs to play someone

Normally, if a team’s the No.1 team in the nation, then they would usually be No.1 on our SEC rankings. But aside from the fact that Georgia’s schedule is medicore-to-dreadful, they haven’t looked wonderful on offense, and aren’t clicking in enough gears to get the No.1 spot. So here are the rankings: Ole Miss (2-0): Beat Tulane 37-20 and looked increasingly comfortable as the game went on. Judkins is a weapon, and Jaxson Dart is looking increasingly comfortable within the offense. Look, there are still things to iron out (they were 1-13 on 3rd downs), but a ‘scrappy’ offense that wins is better than none at all. Week 2 Betting Preview: Get excited about Texas-Alabama, A&M v Miami, and Ole Miss v Tulane

It’s Week 2 of the season tomorrow. The two words on everyone in college football’s mouth is: “Texas” and “Alabama”. Texas fans are apparently forking out $1,000 just to be there – even though Alabama’s widely expected to be comfortable. But that’s not the cool games in the SEC. SEC Preview: Is Alabama really an underdog?

This is going to sound incredibly silly, but Alabama may well go into this season as an underdog. Not in many games, but in the National Championship discussion. For years, there isn’t an Alabama player that’s been especially memorable. The rock stars  – like Will Anderson Jr or Bryce Young are gone. Jahmyr Gibbs is gone. Henry To’oto’o is gone.  That’s a hell of a lot of talent. The reason for this is simple: Alabama was meant to be everything when Young and Gibbs were anchoring the offense and Anderson, Demarco Hellams, Brian Branch and To’oto’o were anchoring the defense. Georgia leads AP Top 25 preseason poll

  In unsurprising news, the Associated Press’ preseason Top 25 is led by Georgia, ahead of Michigan, Ohio State, Alabama and LSU. USC, Penn State, Florida State, Clemson and Washington round out the Top 10. In all, there are 6 SEC, 5 Pac-12, 5 B1G, 4 Big 12, 3 ACC as well as Notre Dame, and, er, Tulane. In a bigger statement, Yahoo Sports pointed out that all of the Top 7 will be in the SEC or B1G next year. Surprisingly, Texas is the top team in the Big 12 at 11. We thought they’d be higher. New ’24 schedule sets up some SEC monster clashes

The arrival of Texas and Oklahoma may have people fuming about the teams voting not to go to a nine game schedule, but this hasn’t stopped the SEC from putting together some monster clashes for the 2024 year, which will lack divisions. THE ‘WE JUST WALKED INTO A CAULDRON’ TEAM Texas will play Georgia and Florida at home, while going on the road to Arkansas (who hate their guts) and Texas A&M (who hate them even more). There’s also the Red River Rivalry to boot. The SEC is going to vote for 8 games….sigh

The Southeastern Conference is going to vote for an eight game schedule (including one permanent opponent), and the fans are going to be completely screwed. BUT IT’S NOT ABOUT THE FANS, THE COACHES GENERALLY DON’T CARE There’s Kentucky’s Mark Stoops, who has openly campaigned for an 8-game schedule, has called it ‘unfair’ , we think simply because the Wildcats have Louisville in the Commonwealth Cup, and therefore it makes their schedule even more difficult.
