Arkansas has hired Chad Morris to be its new head coach, the school said on Wednesday. Morris, who was formerly the coach of SMU and turned the school around after two poor seasons to a 7-5 record, will earn $21m over 6 years for his services. Morris is well-known as a fantastic recruiter in the State of Texas thanks to his links as a former high school coach, and his up-tempo offense helped to galvanize Clemson to the powerhouse when he was there as offensive coordinator. Ed Orgeron named LSU head coach

Ed Orgeron has been named as the head coach of LSU after a crazy Thanksgiving period. On Thursday – before LSU’s visit and subsequent demolition of Texas A&M – there were rumors that Tom Herman, the much-sought-after Houston coach would be departing for Baton Rouge and was just about to pen a deal. Missouri DE dismissed

Missouri has dismissed redshirt sophomore defensive end Marcus Loud for a violation of team policies, the team has said. According to website RockMNation, the dismissal of the 6-4, 260lb DE was not on legal grounds. Loud was one of the favourites to start at the position this year. In 2014 he played all 14 games for Missouri, putting up 14 tackles and a tackle for loss, Loud, from Wheatley, TX, was a 3-star recruit in the Tigers’ 2012 class as the 54th-best strongside defensive end in the country, according to recruiting site 24-7. He spurned offers from Mississippi State, TCU and Michigan State (amongst others) before deciding to play in Columbia.

Auburn hires Muschamp as defensive co-ordinator

Auburn has hired former Florida Gators head coach Will Muschamp as defensive co-ordinator, the school has announced. According to ESPN, Muschamp will be paid $1.6m to $1.8m annually – making him “college football’s highest-paid defensive co-ordinator”. “I’m excited to welcome Will back to Auburn as our new defensive coordinator,” Tigers coach Gus Malzahn said in a statement. “Will is a one of the top defensive minds in college football who has great passion and energy for the game. He is a tremendous addition to our staff.” Muschamp’s Florida Gators defenses were not the problem during his stint in The Swamp – it was his offense. Texas A&M has beaten Texas to the commitment of five-star WR Damarkus Lodge. The 6ft 2, 190lb Lodge, from Cedar Hill HS, TX,  is rated for fourth-best wide receiver in the country, and sixth-best player in the State of Texas, and 35th-best player overall. Lodge was offered by a large number of big-time programs, including Texas, Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas, Baylor, Florida, Clemson, LSU, Ole Miss, Michigan, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech and USC. Texas fans were predictably unhappy with Lodge going to their still-hated rival.

Five-star quarterback prospect Kyler Murray has committed to Texas A&M. Texas A&M beat Oregon and Auburn to the player’s commitment. Murray, who is 5ft11 and 170lbs, who plays at Allen HS – one of the best high schools in Texas – is the nation’s No.1 dual-threat quarterback, according to 247sports.com. He’s also the top player in Texas. Murray was also recruited by Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Oregon. He also had offers from Texas and Arkansas, amongst others.
