Week 10 SEC Predictions: THE Alabama/LSU game + Georgia hosts Missouri

You’d not normally put LSU’s trip to Alabama in the same breath as Georgia v Missouri, but give us a second. The LSU v Alabama is a monster. Whether it’s a poor Alabama side playing a poor LSU side or whether it’s a 1 v 2 match-up, the game ALWAYS has an electric atmosphere, and chock-a-block with future NFL talent. This one’s particularly interesting, because the winner could decide the West (or at least the joint division winner!). And with Georgia v Missouri, the winner is in the driving seat of the SEC East (although Missouri still has to play in-division rivals Tennessee and Florida, while Georgia’s still got a battle with Tennessee ahead). SEC Week 7 Power Rankings: Georgia makes statement

If last week was a sleepy wander for the Georgia Bulldogs, this week was absolute savagery. Kentucky was destroyed 51-13, and that result was probably kind on them. Elsewhere, Alabama did their usual squeaking-by of Texas A&M, LSU got over the line in a shoot-out against Missouri, Ole Miss comfortably beat a terrible Arkansas team, Florida thumped a woeful Vanderbilt, and Mississippi State did something about Western Michigan. Everyone else gave Bye Week a good seeing-to. So here are your rankings: Georgia (6-0): Questioned over whether they were good enough to three-peat at National Champions, Georgia curb-stomped Kentucky. SEC Preview: Arkansas, we gotta talk about the pass defense

Talk all you want about how great Arkansas will be with KJ Jefferson coming back for another year, but the fact is this: Unless they get better on pass defense, there are going to be a lot of questions asked about Sam Pittman’s reign. They were WORST in the country by some mile, giving up 294.7 yards per game (second-last East Carolina gave up 292.8) and 8 1/2 yards/attempt. Ranking the Coaches on The SEC Hot Seat

This year was a weird year in the SEC, because only one coach was hired in the offseason, and that was the utterly polarizing, utterly dislikable Hugh Freeze by Auburn. We mourned the loss of Mike Leach, but almost immediately DC Zach Arnett replaced him, and then got the permanent job. So who’s job is under pressure in the SEC. We go from 1-12. SEC Week 6: Tennessee continues to drop jaws, Arkansas just drops

South Carolina scored the most stunning win of the SEC calendar in Week 6 when they beat Kentucky on their own turf. Also, Texas A&M was a dumbass decision away from upsetting Alabama for the second year in a row on its own turf in a game plagued by turnovers, while Georgia happily destroyed Auburn. Otherwise, Tennessee went to Death Valley and destroyed LSU 40-13, Mississippi State took advantage of a porous Arkansas secondary (to put it mildly), Florida beat Missouri and Ole Miss did what was expected of them by beating Vanderbilt with a strong second half performance. SEC West Preview: Is it Alabama versus the world?

  Every year it seems, people will want to know whether anyone will unseat the immovable objects. In the college football, those unmovable objects are routinely Clemson and Alabama. Matt Luke immediately gets hired by Georgia

Matt Luke, who was fired at Ole Miss just last week, as immediately got himself a role: As the offensive line coach at Georgia. Luke, who managed the offensive line at Ole Miss, Tennessee, Duke before returning to Oxford, comes with a heck of a lot of SEC experience. He’ll have one heck of a stable at Georgia after Sam Pittman’s effort. Pittman went to take the Arkansas head coaching job on Sunday. “It’s obvious after watching his teams over many years and his players love him and play hard for him”.
