The news that Texas A&M had a shitty weekend is hardly surprising. Jimbo Fisher’s side is on one of the worst slide’s in his career, and certainly in the Aggies’ small SEC history. It’s so bad that you wouldn’t shocked if there’s the sort of field invasion that there was in 2021 when the Aggies turned over Alabama…even though the competition is UMass. This week it was a fired-up Auburn, who filled Jordan-Hare in the best atmosphere of the week despite having one of the worst SEC records of the lot. Week 6 Preview: The big game’s in Death Valley, actually

I got in an argument after I posting a quick 1-14 SEC ranking on my Twitter page in which I ranked Georgia as third, with Tennessee on top and Alabama as second. Anyway, Week 5 is finished now. As we know, the ‘Supreme’ Court made a ruling yesterday that public school officials could pray, because it’s a First Amendment thing. With that in mind, here’s a few public SEC figures that we think could deliver one hell of a prayer. And this includes Texas and Oklahoma, because we believe in Prophecy (Manning 3: 42). ‘Should the SEC have a mini play-off?’

      First of all, this idea does not come from my own brain, it comes from a question to the hosts Andy Staples’ podcast. The jist of it is: “Why not have the Top 4 in the Big Ten play each other to get a spot in the Big Ten Championship Game on the final-week-before-the-B1G-Championship-Game’ of the season, with other match-ups to decide bowl eligibility or simply local rivalry games?’ This occurred to me as absolute genius. Happy Thanksgiving. Finally, we’ll all be able to see each other again. We’ll crack jokes, maybe laugh a little, and try and tell ourselves that we like sweet potato pie and can definitely have two helping of Momma’s Yams. During those family reunions, cousins of different in-state college dispositions will meet up, drink far too much bourbon, and argue like children. There will be discussions of tree-poisoning, and dog-pissing. But everywhere – from internet to in-your-face- will become a cesspool of bitter collegiate football division. Dawgs on Top: Week 1 SEC Rankings

Week 1 in the SEC was fun. Georgia shut down Clemson with a defense that was absolutely frightening. Alabama rolled – and we mean ROLLED – against Miami, and LSU lost at UCLA. Everyone else? Auburn, Kentucky, South Carolina and Texas A&M all christened their series in style, while Missouri, Arkansas and Mississippi State survived despite playing dreadfully, and Vanderbilt’s loss to ETSU was so bad that it had us questioning whether they should play football. Anyway, here are our rankings for the 11 SEC teams that we’ve seen this season. SEC Championship Game Preview + Other Games

It’s SEC Championship Game weekend, which would normally have us all focusing on CBS and watching the game, but guess what? There are other games. The Texas A&M vs Tennessee game is actually a more important game than the shindig in Atlanta. If Texas A&M beats Tennessee and Ohio State either struggles or doesn’t beat Northwestern in the Big Ten Championship Game, or if Notre Dame ‘does the double’ over Clemson in the ACC Championship Game, a win for Texas A&M over Tennessee would put the Aggies in the College Football Play-Off for the first time in the Aggies history. Week 2 SEC Preview: Can Auburn beat Georgia? Will A&M overcome Alabama?

Up in Athens, Georgia, College Gameday will be on site but the fanbase won’t be able to scream behind the cameras. There will be no massive tailgate that makes evenings in Athens so darned special, and there will be one of the most eagerly anticipated match-ups of the year between Georgia and Auburn. Auburn looked good against Kentucky for half a game, and Georgia blew by Arkansas for half a game. This will be intriguing. The bookies don’t think Texas A&M will beat Alabama. Costello, Harris and a Georgia QB: Week 2 SEC Players to watch

It’s Week 2 of the SEC Football season, and we’ve already seen a monster upset with LSU losing at home to Mississippi State, a very weird Vanderbilt vs Texas A&M game where the Aggies were awful and didn’t get remotely near the spread, and a true ‘game of two halves’ between Georgia and Arkansas, where Georgia looked like a Dawgs’ breakfast in the first half, and then did the Razorbacks dawgy-style in the second half.
