Steve Spurrier has said that the Gamecocks will be adding a graduate transfer safety from Kansas this off-season. Speaking on the Paul Finebaum Show at the SEC Spring meetings in Destin, FL, The Head Ball coach said: “I hope that’s not against the rules,” he added. “We think he’s got to get in grad school and do some stuff. Our conference – if they’ve had issues before – would frown on us taking a player like that.” He added: “It’s just one year. Maybe he’s gone to a place where things haven’t worked out or maybe he played on a team that doesn’t win that much and he wants to go and play on a successful team. Let ’em play.

Mark Richt is used to criticism as head coach of the University of Georgia. Every year people place him on the hot-seat for either not beating South Carolina, or not beating Auburn, or losing a game they should win, or not beating a team by enough, and 2015 won’t be any different – although after beating Clemson and LSU, maybe the seat’s a LITTLE cooler. If Mark Richt didn’t have to face some bad news when he dismissed safety Tray Matthews from the team, it got a little worse for him when four-star Georgia-based recruit Arden Key decided he would play at South Carolina instead of Athens. Key, a weak-side defensive end, was also offered by Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Oregon, Vanderbilt, Wisconsin, Penn State and Stanford among the 33 schools who offered, according to 24-7Sports.com. South Carolina beats Clemson to 4-star QB commitment

South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier garnered himself another dual-threat quarterback when he got the commitment of 4-star dual-threat quarterback Lorenzo Nunez. Nunez, who hails from Kennesaw, GA, is considered the eighth-best dual threat QB in the country, and best in the state at his position. He is considered the 199th best overall play in the country and 19th best in Georgia. He tweeted: “A huge thanks to all the schools that recruited me and all the fans that supported me. I am committing to the University of South Carolina.” Nuez plays for Harrison High School, and was also recruited by NC State, Clemson, Miami and Ohio State, according to 247 Sports.

Gamecocks Suddenly Back in SEC race: Week 9 SEC Power Rankings

This week wasn’t exactly that weird in the SEC. Missouri’s heart was broken by their kicker (and their defense, we’d like to add), but after that, Vandy was crushed by Texas A&M (who still gave up 24), Alabama slammered Tennessee (see what we’ve done there?), Auburn beat the ‘over’ against Florida Atlantic, and LSU was asleep in the first half against Furman (went 7-0 and 10-7 down before exploding and winning out 48-16)….but it didn’t cost them. Jadeveon Clowney maintains he’ll return

South Carolina defensive end, ESPN star and dreadlocked giant Jadeveon Clowney has promised that he will return in 2013 after missing the Kentucky game through bruised ribs. Clowney’s decision not to play the Kentucky game really annoyed South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier, who said that Clowney simply: “Didn’t want to play”.
