Brian Kelly to be LSU’s head coach

LSU has their man. Despite the world rumoring it is was going to be Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley, the Tigers went the opposite way and hired Notre Dame’s head coach, Brian Kelly.

A consistently excellent recruiter, Kelly has built Notre Dame back into a powerhouse, with a 106-40 record – including 3 10+ win seasons.

Kelly has the 4th-ranked recruiting class in 2022 and the second-ranked class in 2023 – and this is despite the academic rigours that Notre Dame puts on students for entry as well as during their time in South Bend.

Now imagine – for a moment – what Kelly can do in Baton Rouge with the fact that he’s going to a less academic school (yes, it’s a fact!) – with the same quality of coaching.

Nothing has yet been confirmed, although reports are all over the place, making it a basic certainty.

Some might say that the problem for Kelly is that has zero SEC coaching experience, either as a coordinator or a head coach. My argument is this: When you’ve been successful at the biggest name in college football, you’ll be fine in the SEC.
