Predictions for Week 1 of the college football season
Read moreI joked on Saturday night that my SEC rankings were this: 1-15: F**k knows 16: Mississippi State. And that’s probably right. Texas is the No.1 team in the nation and – by virtue of not playing while the unbridled carnage was happening around – would go as No.1 in my view. But are they really better than Georgia? Does Vanderbilt’s win over Alabama automatically mean that they are better than Alabama? Or Arkansas’ win over Tennessee mean that Sam Pittman’s team is better than the Vols? If you believe those guys at the AP Poll – who have Texas first, Georgia fifth (behind Ohio State, Oregon and Penn State), Miami sixth and Alabama seventh. Tennessee is 8th, Ole Miss 9th, LSU 13th,
Read moreIf last week was a sleepy wander for the Georgia Bulldogs, this week was absolute savagery. Kentucky was destroyed 51-13, and that result was probably kind on them. Elsewhere, Alabama did their usual squeaking-by of Texas A&M, LSU got over the line in a shoot-out against Missouri, Ole Miss comfortably beat a terrible Arkansas team, Florida thumped a woeful Vanderbilt, and Mississippi State did something about Western Michigan. Everyone else gave Bye Week a good seeing-to. So here are your rankings: Georgia (6-0): Questioned over whether they were good enough to three-peat at National Champions, Georgia curb-stomped Kentucky. Brock Bowers again shone out with 132 yards on 7 receptions (Can anyone stop this guy?), but senior wideout Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint’s 99

There are other terms: A pile of ‘wank’ (American translation: ‘Crap’), we ‘wanked all over them’ (American translation: Smashed them), ‘Wankered’ (American translation hammered), and ‘Wanky’. Now ‘wanky’ is a term for someone or something that’s pretentious (ie ‘That’s a bit wanky). If you don’t believe me, go look it up in the great Urban Dictionary, which will help you when you are trying to work out what ‘tarmacking’ is. But the line about ‘bit of a wanker’ is:”Someone excessively and annoyingly pretentious and/or false, with a strong
Read more“Long Live The King!” “Long Live The King!” “Long Live The King!” The damned British can’t stop yelling that today. Frankly, I’ve got too much of a hangover from the non-Mexican Mexican holiday of Cinco De Mayo, which gave me far too much excuse to get wasted on margaritas and eat at taco from which I am, ahem, not feeling great this morning. In my daze, I wrote down who were the 14 Kings of the SEC. We’re taking out the crazy boosters, because Texas isn’t here yet. Anyway, here we are: ALABAMA Bear Bryant: Bear Bryant’s “The Bear”. Nick Saban can bring 20 National Championships to Tuscaloosa in the next 20 years, but he ain’t The Bear, and he

Read moreWhile CBS will be headlining Alabama vs Tennessee, the key game for the weekend will once against be involving Auburn, as pressure once agains rises against Gus Malzahn when the Tigers go to Ole Miss. Otherwise, it’s South Carolina playing LSU and Kentucky travelling to Missouri. It’s not the weakest SEC slate around, but it’s certainly one of the lightest….. So here are our games that we’re interested in. We’re going to be amusingly watch some out-of-conference teams now, as THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY’S BACK WHICH IS BIGGER THAN ALL OF COLLEGE FOOTBALL, YOU KNOW? Auburn (-3 1/2, Over/Under 71) at Ole Miss Gus Bus vs Lane Train: A referendum on head coaches is a SEC Tradition like no other.
Read moreWe know that 2020 is going to be difficult for all sorts of reasons. COVID-19 has put a spectre like no other on the SEC season. These two previews – one for the East and one for the West – are going to be done with the knowledge (and the hope this won’t happen) that it could all end in disaster. SEC EAST PREVIEW The SEC East hasn’t been given a lot of credit by anyone over the years. Mainly because it’s been Georgia, Georgia, Georgia, Georgia, and people haven’t recognised that Florida’s not really that bad. It’s also been scourged by the relative uselessness of Tennessee, Missouri, South Carolina and Vanderbilt, who have paled into comparison to the talent-rich monsters
Read moreEven more annoying than Gary Danielson’s voice, the CBS break-f0r-advert music, and SEC’s non-understanding of the holding law on Saturday was trying to work out – some hours after the dust had settled – who in the hell was the best team in the SEC. LSU’s offense had been stymied by Auburn, but still did enough to win (if Auburn had had any offense, this article might be different). Alabama destroyed Arkansas…….but it was Arkansas. At the bottom, it’s easier. Arkansas is the bum of the division, and might well be one of the worst Power-5 teams in the country (CONFIDENT BET: They would beat Rutgers). I also went 4-1 straight-up this week, only missing out on Missouri’s abysmal performance against
