Arkansas 2015 Preview: Hoggin’ With The Hogs

This weekend wasn’t the greatest for the Arkansas Razorbacks, after their top running back, Jonathan Williams, broke his foot in fall camp and is out for the rest of the season. Now, a lot rests on some other players. How is this going to have an affect on the Hogs – who some believe could be battling it out for a SEC West title (or at least be much improved?) LAST YEAR This was the best 7-6 (2-6 in the SEC) team in the nation. Had Arkansas’ kickers actually been able to do their job properly and their defense not choked up a late lead, the Razorbacks would have beaten Alabama and Texas A&M and been a far nicer 4-4

Something stinks, and it’s called the 2015 SEC Non-Conference Schedule

Something stinks, and it’s called the SEC’s 2015 non-conference schedule. Listen, we know that you in South Carolina will scream: “Hell, well at least WE’RE scheduling Clemson!” and those in Florida will say: “Screw You! We’re playing FSU!” and you would be right. I would ask you to imagine what would happen if both schools decided NOT to play that schedule. South Carolina, for example, would burn, with both ADs crucified on Hilton Head Island. In Florida, the feeling would probably be the same, since the two sides have been playing since 1958. And maybe Georgia fans will say: “Yeah! And we play Georgia Tech!”. Georgia fans, a rivalry named: “Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate” is probably one of best rivalry names

Don’t Mess With….A&M: Notre Dame and Aggies seal dates

Texas A&M and Notre Dame have announced that they will play a home-and-home series in 2024 and 2025, the Irish announced. The two teams last clashed in 2000 and 2001. “These two contests between Notre Dame and Texas A&M figure to be excellent intersectional attractions,” says Notre Dame AD Jack Swarbrick in a press release. “We had set a goal of adding representation from the Southeastern Conference to our future schedules, and we’ve accomplished that with the addition of this series, as well as the one with Georgia.” The Irish will also play Georgia in 2017 and 2019, and a closer-t0-home clash with Ohio State in 2022 and 2023. BOTTOM LINE: This game is a huge validation of what the

2014 SEC Preview: Can Auburn make it two straight SEC Championships?

The 2014 SEC season is nearly upon us, so it’s high time (no pun intended, Nick Marshall) that we start our round of 14 SEC previews with the Auburn Tigers. We were thinking about starting with favorites Alabama, or the Yell Boys at Texas A&M, but we realised that we do previews, we start with the Champions – and those were the Tigers, who beat Missouri in a 59-42 shoot-out in Atlanta. Anyway, here’s your preview of the 2014 Auburn Tigers. LAST SEASON This was an incredible season to be an Auburn fan. ‘War Eagle’ finished 12-1 and 7-1 in the SEC, with their only loss coming at LSU. They beat Alabama and Georgia in stunning circumstances, with ‘Kick-Six’ and

Georgia, Notre Dame agree home-and-home

The matches will be played at Notre Dame on September 9th, 2017 and in Athens on September 21st, 2019. “This series will generate an overwhelming level of excitement for our student-athletes and supporters,” said Georgia AD Greg McGarity. “We have a tremendous amount of respect for Notre Dame and look forward to the start of this memorable experience.” The two teams have met only once before — in the 1981 Sugar Bowl–a 17-10 Georgia victory that capped an undefeated, untied season and secured a consensus national championship. “Playing Notre

Other SEC coaches talk on the FCS scheduling issue

Other SEC head coaches than Florida Gators coach Will Muschamp have spoken on the scheduling issue. This is what they had to say. Nick Saban (Alabama): “I don’t know that we have a choice sometimes. We can’t just call people up and say, ‘We want to have a game.’ It’s not like setting up a golf game. I call up three of my buddies and say you guys want to play and you play Sunday morning. Then everybody says, ‘Yeah, I can play.’ You ever try to schedule a game? Do you know (what) goes into that? It’s very difficult to do home-and-home with quality teams. To be honest with you, you almost have to buy games to get people

Muschamp: No more FCS opponents

Florida coach Will Muschamp does not want to see any more FCS opponents on the Gators’ schedule. Despite becoming the laughing stock of college football after his team’s loss to Georgia Southern – a FCS team- last year, Muschamp still spoke out against the schedule at the SEC Spring Meetings. He said: “We’re probably going to move forward without playing FCS opponents“, adding: “And I think our fan base wants to see better opponents“. But Florida AD Jeremy Foley had other ideas. He said: “In a perfect world, you play all D-I schools. But also you have to have 12 opponents“.
