Texas A&M and Notre Dame have announced that they will play a home-and-home series in 2024 and 2025, the Irish announced. The two teams last clashed in 2000 and 2001. "These two contests between Notre Dame and Texas A&M figure to be excellent intersectional attractions," says Notre Dame AD Jack Swarbrick in a press release. "We had set a goal of adding representation from the Southeastern Conference to our future schedules, and we've accomplished that with the addition of this series, as well as the one with Georgia." Top safety Jamal Peters has decided to commit to Mississippi State over Alabama, LSU and Florida State. The four-star player from Bassfield, MS, decided to stay at home despite going to LSU and Ole Miss on unofficial visits. In a refreshing change from the 'Big Home Game In A NFL Dome/Ireland/England/France (you wait! It's coming!)', Georgia and Notre Dame have agreed one of the biggest home-and-homes in their history. The matches will be played at Notre Dame on September 9th, 2017 and in Athens on September 21st, 2019. Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen had another recruiting coup on Wednesday when he beat Ole Miss to four-star defensive tackle Briston Guidry.

Guidry, who plays at Archbishop Rummel in Metairie, LA, is 6ft2 and weighs 265lbs, and will play for Dan Mullen’s 2016 class.

Guidry had also been offered by Tennessee, Louisville and Southern Miss, and recruited by but not offered by LSU, Alabama, Arkansas, and Texas A&M.

He is rated the 15th overall player in Louisiana, and 24th among defensive tackles in the country by 24-7Sports.com.

Other SEC head coaches than Florida Gators coach Will Muschamp have spoken on the scheduling issue. This is what they had to say. Nick Saban (Alabama): "I don't know that we have a choice sometimes. Florida coach Will Muschamp does not want to see any more FCS opponents on the Gators' schedule. Despite becoming the laughing stock of college football after his team's loss to Georgia Southern - a FCS team- last year, Muschamp still spoke out against the schedule at the SEC Spring Meetings. He said: "We're probably going to move forward without playing FCS opponents", adding: "And I think our fan base wants to see better opponents". But Florida AD Jeremy Foley had other ideas. Mississippi State has signed three-star quarterback Chason Virgil. Virgil, who hails from Vesquite, TX, is 6ft-2 and 170lb, and is ranked 23rd in the nation in pro-style quarterbacks and 55th in the State of Texas.
