Florida moved to Sunday, South Carolina to Thursday as Ian starts hitting

The SEC and other conferences will also be affected by Hurricane Ian, which is currently hammering the Florida coast. Florida‘s game with Eastern Washington has been moved to noon on Sunday, where viewers can watch it on ESPN+. Obviously, people with tickets for Saturday’s game can go on Sunday, but we are expecting The Swamp to have a pretty sparse crowd. South Carolina‘s Saturday game with South Carolina State has been moved to Thursday at 7pm in an effort to get as many fans in as possible before Ian arrives. “Due to the potential impact of the hurricane on Columbia and the surrounding area, it is in the best interest of safety to play the game on Thursday rather than

Week 4 SEC rankings: Tennessee’s our No.1

This season, I have been consistently hit by the fact that Tennessee should be ranked as the No.1 team in the SEC, and maybe the No.2 team in the country. It’s not because of the Josh Heupel offense or because I’ve automatically decided that orange is my favorite colour – it’s because Tennessee has beaten two ranked sides, and Alabama and Georgia has only beaten one. There is no ‘common opponent’ between Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia. There will be when the Vols play both teams, but right now, the Vols have had the harder of all three schedules. Each have played SEC teams. Georgia and Alabama destroyed South Carolina and Vanderbilt respectively, but Tennessee beat a better opponent in Florida.

Week 4 Preview: Dumpster fire alert

This week is Dumpster Fire alert. Note: This doesn’t apply to every team. But Missouri’s trip to Auburn is a dumpster fire of all three facets of the game, Florida v Tennessee will feature the potential dumpster fire of two bad defenses and a kid who was after Week 1 a Heisman candidate and is now a cautionary tale of Week 1 beliefs, and Arkansas v Texas A&M just simply is a dumpster fire of expectations and stupidity. Every year. The other games are [checks notes] dull. SO HERE IS YOUR WEEK 4 PREVIEW, in terms of what games we are interested in. And the odd betting tip. No.20 Florida at No.11 Tennessee (-10 1/2, O/U 62 1/2) How can

Prayers from the SEC

As we know, the ‘Supreme’ Court made a ruling yesterday that public school officials could pray, because it’s a First Amendment thing. With that in mind, here’s a few public SEC figures that we think could deliver one hell of a prayer. And this includes Texas and Oklahoma, because we believe in Prophecy (Manning 3: 42). Nick Saban: “Lord, please let me have all the National Championships, all the five-star recruits, have $1 billion for NIL, and to beat everyone into the ****ing ground every year.” Auburn: “Lord, please show us another head coach after you rid us of Evil Brian mid-season. And we pray that it’s not the return of that tool TT, who has proved to be an embarrassment

Dan Mullen fired by Florida

After Saturday’s overtime loss to Missouri, the University of Florida had no choice: Fire Dan Mullen. Two weeks before it had been his defensive coordinator, Todd Grantham, who was booted. Grantham was seen by some as a sacrificial lamb, so that his friend Mullen could keep himself around for another year. But it didn’t happen. Saturday’s awful 24-23 loss in Columbia, in which the Gators had one regular-time touchdown in 360 yards of offense, wad utterly dreadful to watch (Note: Missouri weren’t much better!). But Mullen’s firing is still a weird one. Overall, he was 34-15 –  the third-best in The Swamp behind Steve Spurrier and Urban Meyer. After all, he was one horror-loss against LSU last season from getting
