The most interesting SEC picks in the 2023 NFL Draft

For the SEVENTEEN consecutive year the SEC has given the NFL the most picks in the Draft — and they aren’t all going to the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Eagles have drafted most of Georgia’s 2022 Natty-winning defense (so it seems), and this year they got Jalen Carter, Nolan Smith and a 4th round steal in Kelee Ringo.

Georgia and Alabama sent 10 players each to the Draft.

  • Alabama — 10
  • Georgia — 10
  • Florida — 6
  • LSU — 6
  • Tennessee — 5
  • Auburn — 5
  • South Carolina — 5
  • Ole Miss — 4
  • Kentucky — 3
  • Texas A&M — 3
  • Arkansas — 2
  • Mississippi State — 2
  • Missouri — 1

Vandy was the only SEC school not get a player picked, however they had 3 UDFAs signed.

Outside of the first round picks (and Ringo), here are the most interesting of those picks.

  • Jalin Hyatt (Tennessee): To the New York Giants (3rd round). The Giants get a Biletnikoff Award winner in the 3rd round. Are you kidding me? Maybe the bargain of the Draft.
  • Stetson Bennett (UGA) went in the 4th round to the LA Rams. 2 Natties. Period.
  • Will Levis (Kentucky) to Tennessee. Can he even have a career? He’ll have a chip on his shoulder after sitting around becoming a meme in the Green Room during the first round.
  • Hendon Hooker (Tennessee): To Detroit (3rd round). If his knee’s rehabbed, could battle Jarrod Goff to a starter’s position. He’s got the speed and the maturity.
  • Devon Achane (Texas A&M): To Miami (3rd round). Speedster. Can catch. Kept A&M’s season on life support all year long. Sure starter.
  • Jonathan Mingo (Ole Miss) went in the 2nd to Carolina. Mingo had 860 yards and 5 TDs last year.
  • BJ Ojulari (LSU): To Arizona (2nd round). An absolute nuisance. Had 25 tackles for loss in 3 seasons for LSU.
  • Henry To’oTo’o (Alabama): To Houston (5th round). Under-the-radar because of Will Anderson, but still was a first-team all-conference pick, putting up 93 freaking tackles. The Texans, with To’oTo’To and Will Anderson in the backfield, will have a combination for the future.
  • Kayshon Boutte (LSU): To New England. A couple of years ago he was going to be a first-rounder. Then he got hurt. People had him a lot higher. The Pats got themselves a STEAL.
