Vandy WR transfers to Alcorn State

Vanderbilt wide receiver CJ Bolar is transferring to Alcorn State of the MEAC for the rest of his collegiate career.

The 6-1 player from Mississippi came into the SEC  as a 3-star recruit, ranked as the 105th-best wide receiver in the nation and the 13th-best in the state.

Bolar had an excellent freshman year, catching 34 receptions for 440 yards and two TDs and rushing for 24 yards on just two rushes.

In his sophomore year he played nine games of an injury-plagued season and had 11 receptions for 79 yards. You wonder how good Vanderbilt’s offense would have been with him playing.

Leading into his time in Nashville, Bolar had offers from – amongst others – Mississippi State, Tennessee, Memphis, Louisville, Virginia and North Carolina and he also attended a camp at Ole Miss. He had previously committed to go to Iowa State before Derek Mason persuaded him that that was a bad idea.
