Arkansas’ new DC takes a bow

Robb Smith, Arkansas’ new DC, took the bow on Monday as he was introduced by head coach Bret Bielema. Smith comes from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he was the NFL team’s linebackers’ coach in 2013. Former DC Chris Ash has gone to Ohio State to be the Buckeyes’ DC – despite the Razorbacks going 3-9  in 2013 and lost every game from September 21st onwards. “I’ve been able to watch Robb Smith grow in the profession, and I know he’ll bring in an attacking defensive philosophy that is built specifically to stop offenses in the SEC”, Bielema said in a release. “Robb has been promoted time and time again at every place he’s been. With his background, he captivates a

Karma? How was Arkansas’ National Signing Day?

Bret Bielema isn’t much liked in SEC corridors. Maybe it’s because he was Wisconsin’s head coach. Maybe it’s because of his wife and her tweeting ways. Maybe it’s because he hasn’t won a SEC game. Anyway, Arkansas fans will certainly like him a lot better after a solid National Signing Day – which included getting a player to come play for him instead of National Champion Florida State. That was the case with 4-star athlete JoJo Robinson . Robinson had been pursued by LSU, Auburn and Miami, too. They think he might be the next great UA punt/kick returner. We can’t wait. Anyway, Bielema has always been pretty good at getting running backs, and he added one more in Juan Day.

Huge News: Arkansas grabs Brett Bielema from Wisconsin

Huge news in the SEC and the Big Ten: Arkansas has grabbed Brett Bielema, Wisconsin’s coach, according to reports. Pat Forde at Yahoo Sports said: “An announcement will come today, sources told Y! Sports, but Bielema is not expected to be introduced until Wednesday.” Arkansas had already dangled a monster contract under the nose of LSU Coach Les Miles before the Tigers gave him a massive new extension and contract increase. BOTTOM LINE: This is massive news for the Razorbacks. Bielema is a fine recruiter, and has taken Wisconsin to three straight Rose Bowls. The Badgers are coached with having a fine running game behind giant offensive linesman. Don’t expect miracles from Bielema in his first year, but if he

SEC Schedule: Top 10 In-Conference Games You MUST watch this season

Every year the SEC dominates other schools in bowl games (unless you’re Michigan State, but less said about that the better) quite simply because they have the most difficult conference. EVERY game is a bowl game,  a potential National Championship Game, or a big-time match-up. If you don’t believe us, ask CBS why – every year without fail – they always screen Florida vs Tennessee, even though both sides weren’t going to compete last year, and could possibly be put down as ‘afterthoughts’ for the last couple, at least. Anyway, here’s our Top 10 games (IN-CONFERENCE) on the SEC schedule. And there should be no surprises who’s going to be No.1…. 1) Alabama vs LSU (Nov 3) Night game. LSU

Arkansas O-Linesman gets jail

Arkansas offensive linesman Jason Peacock has been sent to jail after pleading guilty to taking another student’s debit card and using it to buy $35 of gasoline. The player – a starter for the Razorbacks – was sentenced to 10 days’ in jail for the theft – a misdemeanor theft charge. The good news for Peacock (if there is any) is that this could stay off his record if he completes his sentence as well as a year’s probation, the Associated Press said. “He understood he had to be punished. He stepped up and took it like a man,” his lawyer said. “I can tell you he is one of the most remorseful people I’ve ever represented and I’ve been

Note to SEC: Texas A&M needs another Thanksgiving Rival

As y’all know by this blog, we love the SEC and we’re really happy that two teams have been added to the SEC schedule. Missouri’s going to be a  cold and difficult place for rivals to play in the East, and Texas A&M’s going to be a deafening place to play in the West. But let’s be honest – when it became known that Texas A&M was not going to play Texas anymore, it ripped a lot out of college football’s soul. For over 118 years, Texas and Texas A&M beat the crap out of each other. Even if both sides weren’t good, they were got off the turf for The Thanksgiving Game of All Thanksgiving Games. Fanbases may not
