Week 2 Rankings: Ole Miss rules, Georgia needs to play someone

Normally, if a team’s the No.1 team in the nation, then they would usually be No.1 on our SEC rankings. But aside from the fact that Georgia’s schedule is medicore-to-dreadful, they haven’t looked wonderful on offense, and aren’t clicking in enough gears to get the No.1 spot. So here are the rankings: Ole Miss (2-0): Beat Tulane 37-20 and looked increasingly comfortable as the game went on. Judkins is a weapon, and Jaxson Dart is looking increasingly comfortable within the offense. Look, there are still things to iron out (they were 1-13 on 3rd downs), but a ‘scrappy’ offense that wins is better than none at all. Alabama’s in, but the Crimson Tide deserve it?

I love SEC Football as much as the rest of ’em, but there’s no way I can look at myself straight in the face and say: ‘We had the best conference. We deserved two teams in the play-off. Mark Richt out at Georgia

Mark Richt has resigned as the head coach of Georgia, the university said today. UGA’s AD Greg McGarity said: “Coach Richt and I met Sunday morning to discuss the status of our football program…and we mutually agreed that he would step down as head coach and would have the opportunity to accept other duties and responsibilities at UGA following the bowl game.” Richt added: “I appreciate the opportunity of serving the University as well as considering any other options that may present themselves in the future.” Richt had been at Georgia for 15 years, where he won 145 games and two SEC Championships. Alabama moves up SEC recruiting table with DT commit

The commitment of four-star defensive tackle Kendell Jones to Alabama has moved the Crimson Tide up the SEC recruiting rankings. The 6-4, 361lb Jones is ranked 67th on the National Composite rankings, as well as being the 11th-best DT in the nation and the 9th-best player in Texas, where he plays at Shoemaker High School. The rankings – according to recruiting website 24-7 – sees Alabama leapfrog Tennessee to fifth, behind Georgia, Ole Miss, LSU and Kentucky.  Florida is in seventh, followed by Mississippi State, Auburn, Arkansas, South Carolina, Vanderbilt and Missouri. Alabama also moved up four spots to No.10 in the national rankings, which is currently headed up by Florida State. The Crimson Tide currently has five four-star commitments

Mississippi State stands pat at No.1, Auburn rises: Post-Week 9 SEC Power Rankings

Some nights are built for Death Valley. Last Saturday was one of those nights. With Les Miles mourning the death of his mother, LSU fans took their coach on their back and beat No.3 Ole Miss 10-7 to take home a stunning victory. Of course, the win was sealed with a Bo Wallace screw-up, but we still think that’s because Les Miles’ deal with The Devil comes with making the QB doing stupid things. Mississippi Powerhouses: SEC Week 6 Power Rankings

Wow. What a week for Ole Miss and Mississippi State. Ole Miss shows up at The Grove with the College Gameday crew wearing bow ties and looking pretty great, and Katy Perry makes an ass of herself on camera, and Ole Miss goes on to beat Alabama. Before that Mississippi State had beaten the living daylights out of Texas A&M, and looked worth the victory. Auburn beats the corndog out of LSU, while Florida and Tennessee plays the worst game in the History of Man. It ends 10-9 to Florida. Georgia throttles Vanderbilt, as predicted. No SEC team In Top 2 In BCS Standings After Iron Bowl

There is no SEC team in the Top 2 in the BCS Standings after Auburn’s victory over Alabama, folks. Florida State – who beat Florida senseless – is No.1 and Ohio State – who survived a excremental decision by Michigan coach Brady Hoke to go for it on 4th down – is No.2. Auburn in No.3, Alabama is No.4 and Missouri is No.5. Heart Attack Auburn: SEC Power Rankings After Week 12

There have been great finishes in the SEC season, but maybe none better than the Georgia-Auburn game, when both sides thought they’d won the game. In the end, it was Georgia fans who were once again delivered the heartbreak, once again by a defense who couldn’t do their job properly and a Lady Luck who would not stop by their dressing room. Right, it’s ‘Hot Seat’ time in the SEC, and by these standards, it’s pretty quiet. Maybe it’s because there was a bit of balance in the conference this week, or maybe it’s because everyone’s muttering along, quietly ____ off that things aren’t going the way they wanted it.
