Ole Miss 2015 Preview: Great D, By Damn

Ole Miss' 2014 was a weird one. The Rebs went to the heights of No.3 in the nation after winning their first seven games in a row, including an incredible field-invading, Katy Perry-attending, classic against Alabama. They looked solid. Bo Wallace looked ready to play. Everything was going their way. And then they walked into Tiger Stadium, LSU. There nothing went their way. They lost 10-7 that was classically bad, and then lost a home heartbreaker against Auburn 35-31, in which star WR Laquon Treadwell broke his leg and had us all reaching for the sick bucket. A 30-0 loss to Arkansas and a bowl Read more [...]
Texas A&M's 2014 was an interesting one. After slaughtering South Carolina on the road, their QB Kenny Hill trademarked his nickname to "Kenny Trill", and subsequently sucked. So much so he had to be replaced by Kyle Allen. The Aggies could have easily gone 7-6 instead of 8-5 --- with a two SEC wins -- if Arkansas hadn't choked at JerryWorld. This was a pretty ugly season, so head coach Kevin Sumlin (possibly to deflect anger from pissed-off Aggies fans) had to make some changes.... OFF-SEASON Mark Snyder, as we'd be saying for a good couple of seasons, finally got the boot. Texas A&M Read more [...]

Auburn 2015 Preview: Is this the Tigers’ year?

After starting the season 5-0, a lot of was expected of Auburn when they went to Mississippi State. After losing 38-23, it was obvious that something was missing from Gus Malzahn's team....a good defense. And for the rest of the season, the defense rotted, basically mailing it in against Georgia and Alabama. Of course, Ohio State will thank Auburn for exposing the Crimson Tide's weak secondary (they did the same thing a few weeks later), but this team was a real disappointment, culminating in a 34-31 loss to coach-less Wisconsin. THE OFF-SEASON Auburn made the biggest splash of the off-season Read more [...]
You know you've built a dynasty when every year, people are talking about the Alabama Crimson Tide and mentioning the words "National Title". In fact, it's a disappointment when they DON'T get to the final game. And when they were outplayed by Ohio State in the College Football Play-Off semi-final and didn't get there, it was a disappointment, despite winning the SEC Title.  LAST SEASON As mentioned, Alabama lost the College Football Play-Off game to 'The' Ohio State University. They didn't just lose, they were wildly outschemed and outplayed, with the secondary bullied throughout Read more [...]

Georgia 2015 Preview: Roaring Bulldogs?

People laugh at Clemson for managing to choke the big games away, but let's be honest, Georgia's as bad as Clemson is. They lost to South Carolina and Florida despite being overwhelming favourites, and didn't get to the SEC Championship Game, thanks to Missouri - a team they beat - managing to only lose to....(you guessed in) Georgia.  Despite losing Todd Gurley to the NFL, hopes are high, thanks to Nick Chubb. But there are a lot of things for Mark Richt to do before that.... LAST SEASON Georgia beat Clemson handsomely at the start of the season, and Read more [...]

Booted LSU DT says: “I’ll be back”

LSU's dismissal of redshirt freshman defensive tackle Trey Lealaimatafao on Monday night showed that Les Miles actually has some stones. After his arrest for hitting a woman after she attempted to stop him battering her boyfriend, Miles immediately suspended the player - who had caused him disciplinary issues last year as well - and then dismissed him on Monday night. Of course, there are worries about LSU's depth, according to Bleacher Report. Lealaimatafao would have either seen time on the field or started for the Tigers, and now he's gone, there are holes. But there we go. LSU will Read more [...]

Vandy rape case declared mistrial

The Vanderbilt rape case has been declared a mistrial. The case was thrown out because the jury foreman did not admit that he was once the victim of a sexual assault. Corey Batey and Brandon Vandenburg had both been accused of crimes of aggravated rape and sexual battery, and were found guilty five months ago on five counts of the former and two counts of the latter. According to CBS, both players had been waiting sentencing before the revelations took place, which might mean that they avoid decades of jail-time. The trial, CBS noted, "featured graphic video Read more [...]

LSU DT arrested for punching woman

LSU defensive tackle Trey Lealaimatafao has been suspended by head coach Les Miles after being arrested for "simple battery and simple robbery", the Advocate has reported. The redshirt freshman was involved in a fight outside a Baton Rouge bar on Tuesday, where he dug through the pockets of a male victim after he and a group of other- unnamed- suspects, beat the man unconscious outside Reggie's Bar on Tuesday. Even if that wasn't enough, Lealaimatafao then punched the victim's girlfriend in the face with a closed fist as she tried to get in the way of the attack. He has been remanded Read more [...]
Jonathan Taylor, the former Georgia DT booted from Athens after domestic violence charges who then enrolled at Alabama, has been booted by the Crimson Tide after being arrested for domestic violence charges. According to ESPN: "Police officers responded to a call near Alabama's campus to speak with a woman who told police she was assaulted by her boyfriend at approximately 6 p.m. Saturday. After speaking to the woman about an altercation that took place at her residence, officers located the suspect at the residence and spoke to him about the incident. Officers found probable cause to arrest Read more [...]

Former Vanderbilt players found guilty of rape

Two former Vanderbilt games have been found guilty of the rape of a student in 2013. Brandon Vandenburg and Corey Batey were found to have brought the unconscious, unnamed student up to his dorm room after drinking after taking her to their bedroom, where Vandenburg photographed the assault, according to ESPN. Two other players - Brandon E. Banks and Jaborian McKenzie, are still waiting to be tried. The news shocked the campus in September 2013....but what has also haunted the campus was the cover-up by other football players of the action. This included star wide receiver Chris Boyd, Read more [...]
