Right, this time of the year is a sad one, because we say goodbye to our greatest SEC playmakers, wishing that they would have one more year in college to make us smile. Some are seniors, but what the SEC Blog is focussing on is the juniors, who have decided to forgo their senior year, in an effort to make cash instead of being exploited for it (!). Should Georgia or Oklahoma be in the College Football play-off?

And so, it happened. Georgia didn’t have to beat Alabama in the SEC Championship Game to cause bedlam….they just had to play the Crimson Tide close. Close? The Bulldogs damned nearly beat them, ramming the ball down their throat during a first half whirling dervish. The second half was your usual tale of Alabama adjusting, Georgia being a little more conservative – an assinine 4th-and-11 call side – and Alabama have two National Championship-winning quarterbacks to use to take home a 35-28 victory. Georgia – Alabama SEC Championship Game Preview

How are you not excited? The 2018 SEC Championship Game between Georgia and Alabama will pit two of the biggest – if not the biggest – players in the SEC. It’s a rematch of the 2018 National Championship Game – the greatest game of the season last year. It’s a rematch of mentor vs mentee. Georgia’s move to No.4 creates a real headache

Georgia is back in the College Football Play-Off standings, folks. The 11-1 Bulldogs moved to No.4 in the standings behind Alabama, Clemson and Notre Dame. Behind the Dawgs are Oklahoma and Ohio State. Georgia moved up because their comfortable win against Georgia Tech twinned with Michigan’s monster loss to Ohio State. Big Blue fell out of the mix, and was leapfrogged by Oklahoma (who won in a shoot-out at West Virginia) and the Buckeyes. THE HEADACHE AND PERMUATIONS If Georgia beats Alabama, they are in. Can Auburn’s season get worse? Week 8 SEC predictions

The mathematics of a monster contract like Gus Malzahn’s might not show it, but the Auburn head coach’s job status is fragile. The offense is sputtering (76th in the country), and because of that, the defense – although it’s one of the best in the country – can’t get a break. Is Mizzou, Arkansas or Vandy the worst teams in the SEC? Week 8 Standings

eorWorking out an order for who are the best teams in the SEC is hard work. While No.1 (Alabama) is easy, then it becomes a headache. LSU has a claim because it battered No.2 Georgia last week. Florida has a claim because it beat LSU. Kentucky has a claim because it beat Florida. Georgia will have a claim if it beats Florida (although it will strengthen LSU’s position at the moment). Predicting Georgia’s trip to LSU and other Week 7 SEC games

It’s  going to be an interesting week in the SEC. Most people with have their eyes glued to Georgia’s trip to Death Valley. Personally, we wish that it was a 7pm kick-off rather than the 3.30, but that’s because we love a raucous Tiger Stadium (and so will the fans who have to endure the humidity!!). Then there’s Texas A&M’s potentially tricky trip to South Carolina, Florida going to Vandy, Ole Miss playing Arkansas in the ‘Battle of The Worst Teams In The SEC West’, and Tennessee’s trip to Auburn. Florida rises while Alabama still rules: SEC Week 7 Rankings

Chomp….Chomp….Chomp…..It’s the sound of the Florida Gators on the rise again. The Gators beat LSU in a classic CBS match-up on Saturday afternoon, and they are suddenly looking like they might compete for the East. You know, if the buzzsaw of UGA and Alabama ever slows down…. Alabama: Nick Saban’s not happy with the defense giving up 31 points to Arkansas. The bettors who bet Alabama would beat Arkansas by more than the spread aren’t happy with the defense giving up a last-second, doesn’t-matter touchdown. And the offense is still humming, people. There’s nothing more fun than a head coach returning to his former team. Especially when it’s the SEC, where there is probably going to be a little more than polite booing directed at Dan Mullen as he takes his Florida Gators to ClangaVille to face Mississippi State. But other games are also intriguing on the SEC schedule. Kentucky: The third best team in the SEC? (Week 4 rankings)

A third of the college football season has gone (sniff!), and Alabama is looking absolutely unstoppable. On the other end, Tennessee and Arkansas are competing for the worst teams in the league, although at the most, Tennessee’s looking pretty good for that.
