The final week….Is Rivalry Week: Week 13 SEC Predictions

Happy Thanksgiving. Finally, we’ll all be able to see each other again. We’ll crack jokes, maybe laugh a little, and try and tell ourselves that we like sweet potato pie and can definitely have two helping of Momma’s Yams. During those family reunions, cousins of different in-state college dispositions will meet up, drink far too much bourbon, and argue like children. There will be discussions of tree-poisoning, and dog-pissing. But everywhere – from internet to in-your-face- will become a cesspool of bitter collegiate football division. Those arguments will develop into fist-fights, probable divorces and definitely decisions never to go to Uncle Joe’s. Ever. Again. Dan Mullen fired by Florida

After Saturday’s overtime loss to Missouri, the University of Florida had no choice: Fire Dan Mullen. Two weeks before it had been his defensive coordinator, Todd Grantham, who was booted. Grantham was seen by some as a sacrificial lamb, so that his friend Mullen could keep himself around for another year. But it didn’t happen. Saturday’s awful 24-23 loss in Columbia, in which the Gators had one regular-time touchdown in 360 yards of offense, wad utterly dreadful to watch (Note: Missouri weren’t much better!). But Mullen’s firing is still a weird one. Overall, he was 34-15 –  the third-best in The Swamp behind Steve Spurrier and Urban Meyer. SEC Week 11: Will there be fireworks in Oxford?

This week features No.11 Texas A&M visiting No.12 Ole Miss, No.1 Georgia going to Tennessee, and No.16 Mississippi State rolling into Auburn. LSU also plays Arkansas, Oh, and struggling Missouri hosts South Carolina, who are full of the joys of the fall after thrashing Florida last week. LSU’s game against Arkansas could also be spicy, although Kentucky’s trip to Vanderbilt assuredly won’t be. Week 10 Predictions: Auburn hosts Texas A&M, Hugh vs Lane

The SEC Football Blog has been in the UK lately, dealing with visa delay problems and an ill mother-in-law, but finally we’ve got a little time to do a piece of writing. We managed to watch the Georgia vs Florida / Michigan vs Michigan State games in the UK, but time differences and other issues have made watching college football at tad difficult.  It’s also been difficult to write a SEC Power Rankings because below Georgia, everyone’s been a much of a muchness until you hit the dreadful trio of South Carolina, then Missouri and finally Vanderbilt.  Needless to say, we’ve been following everything and trying to catch up with some highlights. LSU Part 1: In Defense of Ed Orgeron

If you’re a SEC fan – or even a college football fan – you’re probably aware of the situation at LSU. The Tigers lost at LSU, nearly lost to Mississippi State, should-have-beaten-but-somehow-lost to Auburn, and got absolutely destroyed by Kentucky. If Ed Orgeron had a hot seat after the UCLA game, the Kentucky game made his nonk chauz as hot as the seventh corridor of hell. But should he be fired?
