Alabama moves to No.2 in AP Poll

Alabama has moved to No.2 in the AP Poll after being Wisconsin 35-17 on Saturday night, moving ahead of TCU who strugged at Minnesota. The Crimson Tide was still miles behind Ohio State, who was an almost-consensus No.1 after its after-halftime dismantling of Virginia Tech. Texas A&M jumped into the AP Poll as the No.16 after it beat Arizona State. After that performance, we can seem them go higher in weeks to come. Auburn is No.6 and Georgia is No.9 as the SEC took home three Top 10 teams. LSU, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Missouri, Tennessee and Mississippi State are all in the Top 25, although the jury’s probably still out there as to whether Mississippi State should be there after

The days after Armageddon: SEC Rankings (With apologies)

First Alabama – LSU happened. Then Obama happened. Sorry boys and gals, we haven’t been as up-to-date as we should be with our SEC rankings. Anyway, here they are… 1. Alabama – Survived LSU. You have to wonder what John Chavis was doing playing soft coverage though in that last drive. 2 = Georgia – Woke up from a 10-0 deficit against Ole Miss to hammer Ole Reb 37-10 in a performance that got stronger by the minute. We look forward to the SEC Championship Game, Dawgs. 2= LSU – A team very like Georgia who only woke up in the second half of the Alabama game. Atmosphere second-to-none in Death Valley, by the way. Good on you, LSU fans.

At last, the Tigers Roar (and so do the Tide and Gators!): Week 7 Rankings

Right, it’s been a mad week in College Football – so much so that we’re going to rank our Top 14 straight away. Without further ado, here’s where we are: 1) Alabama – Rolled to a 28-point lead over Missouri until the rains came. Then looked really scrappy, but the Tide dealt with the tests. And news just in: Eddie Lacy’s a beast. And so is that defensive line. 2) Florida – It wasn’t pretty against Vanderbilt, but it was effective. Jeff Driskell’s beginning to (whisper) remind people of (whisper) Tim Tebow. Oh, and that defense is as good as we thought they were. We’ll see how good the offensive line is against South Carolina. That game’s going to be

Two Death Valleys? SEC Week 7 Preview

If there’s a pot, Steve Spurrier will be there to stir it. This week, Steve Spurrier hammered Georgia (both with mouth and with team), and hammered Clemson (“My boys haven’t been to Death Valley before“, he opined on the radio). This week, he’s going to hell. Quite possibly to prepare him for the afterlife, Clemson fans might say. Anyways, here’s an excerpt from a poem that our boy Alfred, Lord Tennyson prepared for South Carolina’s trip to Death Valley, Baton Rouge: “Half a league, half a league, Half a league onward, All in the valley of Death Rode the six hundred. “Forward, the Light Brigade! “Charge for the guns!” he said: Into the valley of Death Rode the six hundred.”

SEC: Ole Miss suspension news

SEC headlines from today: 1) Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin isn’t overly happy with the Florida Gators and the fact that its players cramped up in the second half. Florida fans: Are you skeptical about the team’s conditioning or do you think it was gamesmanship? 2) Arkansas QB and Heisman candidate Tyler Wilson didn’t practice on Tuesday after leaving the ULM game with a concussion. However, Alabama‘s Nico Johnson & Co is still preparing to play Wilson on Saturday. 3) Despite defense from his school, Ole Misssafety Trae Elston has been suspended by the SEC for Saturday’s showdown with Texas on Saturday night for a dangerous hit in the final minutes of the win over UTEP. That’s not going to

SEC Predictions: Week 1

It’s the start of the season, which means that we get to see some College Football again! Yaaaaay! Anyway, here are our predictions for every SEC team playing this [long] weekend, apart from Texas A&M, who have seen their game against Louisiana Tech postponed to Hurricane Isaac, which is dumping its load all over New Orleans as we speak… Anyway, here goes…. THURSDAY South Carolina at Vanderbilt Everyone’s talking about Vanderbilt’s potential to upset USC in Nashville on College Football Kick-Off Night on Thursday night, but if Steve Spurrier gets Marcus Lattimore rolling and Connor Shaw finds a wide receiver or two, then James Franklin’s got his work cut-out. Sure, people believe in Jordan Rodgers, but will Vandy’s offensive line
