Stop if you’ve heard this before about recruiting: It’s an Alabama and Georgia world, and everyone else just lives in it. Bret Bielema is out at Arkansas

Bret Bielema is out at Arkansas after five years at the helm. ‘Bert’, as he’s ‘affectionately’ known by social media, was fired after the Razorbacks were beaten 48-45 in a thriller at home to Missouri, leaving the school with a 4-8 record. This is the second coach that has been fired this season after a loss to the Tigers – the first was Tennessee’s Butch Jones. Bielema was fired almost immediately after the game. There were rumors that he had been fired as he walked off the field, but Arkansas pointed out that they hadn’t been that cruel – it was ‘actually in the coach’s office by the visitor’s locker room’, ESPN stated. Because it gives me a chance to ignore the extended family and watch football for three days, I love Rivalry Weekend. If you had one choice of who to get rid of who would it be? SEC Week 6: Hurricanes, bad names, and long-ass games

The only thing anyone was talking about this weekend was the fact that the LSU-Florida game got ‘postponed’ because of Hurricane Matthew and never may see the light of day again, which could lead to quite a ruckus in the SEC Standings – especially in the SEC West. Week 3 SEC Predictions

cIt’s Week 3, which means we’ve got a beautiful mix of in-conference SEC match-ups and non-conference ones. In-conference, we’ve got some games. Alabama is rolling into Ole Miss, thirsting for revenge after the last two losses to the Rebels, No.17 Texas A&M’s trip to Auburn could be a war, and Georgia’s trip to Missouri has upset written all over it. Oh, and then there’s always LSHambles playing Mississippi State. What could possibly go wrong for Les Miles? The biggest non-conference battle a SEC team is involved in in Week 3 is Vanderbilt’s trip to Georgia Tech, while East Carolina’s trip to South Carolina could be interesting. The SEC would love to have Week 1 back

Right, we here at the SEC would like to have Week 1 back. Sure, some of the schools are 1-0 and some are not, but none of our teams were particularly great, and some of them – even in victory – couldn’t seem to get their collective asses off the ground. Anyway, here’s ranking how every team in the conference did this week, in order of performance: Alabama (win vs USC)- The Alabama fans were ready to lynch Lane Kiffin, right until the USC QB threw a pick-6 and the Crimson Tide to shreds. It wasn’t a complete performance, but if this was considered as a bad performance after Week One, then the rest of college football is in trouble.

Was Ole Miss 2013 recruiting class worth the money?

If Ole Miss is found out more guilty than imposing losses of double-digit football scholarships between 2015-18 (inclusive), then let’s be honest: This team has certainly been worth the money. Under Hugh Freeze’s tutelage, which started in 2012 (although 2013 was the first class), Ole Miss brought in one of the greatest recruiting classes ever assembled in Rebs’ history in 2013, including DT Robert Nkemdiche, O-Lineman Laremy Tunsil, WR Laquon Treadwell, and S Tony Conner. 3 out of 4 of those assembled players went in the NFL first round, and Conner’s still in school after suffering injuries. Alabama defensive line coach and top recruiter expected to leave

Alabama defensive line coach Bo Davis is expected to leave or resign due to possible recruiting violations, the Tuscaloosa News has reported.  Apparently Davis was being looked into not only internally but also by the NCAA into the possible transgressions. It is not known which players he was recruiting at the time that the possible transgressions took place. If Davis left, it wouldn’t be his first departure from Alabama. Davis was hired in 2007 then left after the 2010 season for Texas, stayed 3 years in Austin and then came back in 2014, where he has been ever since. Georgia players arrested and jailed for firing gun

Two freshmen Georgia players have been arrested and jailed for firing a BB gun on school property, according to a report by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Defensive tackle Julian Rochester and Chad Clay were arrested and jailed for having the gun on school property, and second degree damage. They were still in jail at the time of writing, the AJC said, as there is no bond for possessing a weapon – albeit a BB gun. Kirby Smart, Georgia’s new head coach, said in a statement: “I’m disappointed with the poor judgment of Julian and Chad. We expect full compliance with the policies of the University and of our football program from all our student-athletes. Information is still being gathered but they will be disciplined
