The forgotten men of great SEC teams

For good or for bad, SEC people can bend your ear until they’ve practically ripped it off about the Cam Newtons, Tim Tebows, Reggie Whites, Trent Richardsons and Tuas of memory. Of course Georgia fans will regale you with stories about Herschel, ‘Florida men’ will even talk about Spurrier’s frighteningly good offenses, and someone from Arkansas might chime about Darren McFadden. But there are the forgotten men. It goes without saying that most offensive and defensive linesmen are these ‘forgotten men’, but every team who’s won a National Championship tend to have a good offensive line. It helps with putting up the points. So please don’t get annoyed if we ignore them. We’re not going to just doing National Championships

Good news for Cocks: Marcus Lattimore has ligament damage, but no more

There was good news for South Carolina Gamecocks fans:Marcus Lattimore’s injury isn’t as bad as feared. Dawgs bark, Tide rolls, Gators chomped, Everyone prays: SEC Rankings (Week 9)

It was a horrible week in the SEC. RIP, Sarah and James Wheat. Prayers are with the Wheat family. Second, Marcus Lattimore gets a horror show of an injury in South Carolina’s game against Tennessee. You mean, the kid needs MORE HARDSHIP, God? The injury is gruesome. If you really want to see, it, click here (for the record, we haven’t even watched it again). SEC Preseason Preview: Can South Carolina dominate the SEC East?

In Steve Spurrier, South Carolina is coached by one of the greatest coaches the SEC (and College Football), has ever seen. This year, South Carolina goes into the season higher thought-of than ever. So can they win the SEC East title, which they missed out on last year? Last year Let’s get this straight: If they hadn’t have had such a sucky SEC conference, they would have won the SEC East. They went 4-0 against their division, but because Georgia managed to avoid playing anyone

Three SEC teams in ESPN’s Top 10 running games

ESPN has picked three SEC teams in their Top 10 running games in the country for 2012. Alabama (#2), LSU (#5) and South Carolina (#9) were the teams – which is hardly surprising that Alabama boast Eddie Lacy, LSU has Spencer Ware and Michael Ford, and South Carolina has perhaps the best of the lot – if he remains healthy – in Marcus Lattimore. The biggest factor, according to the website, is the fact that Alabama and LSU both return four starting offensive linesmen, while South Carolina brings back just two. The order is: 1) Southern California 2) Alabama 3) Oregon 4) Texas 5) LSU  6) Wisconsin 7) Georgia Tech 8) Stanford 9) South Carolina 10) Nebraska

Looking Back: The Top 10 SEC Games, Atmospheres and Players of 2011

Looking back, it was another glorious year for the SEC. Another National Championship was won, with Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide taking home the bacon. The Crimson Tide beat LSU 21-0 in a re-match in which did both of the things they went out to do: Dominate AND win. In the first game against the Tigers in front over 92,000 in Tuscaloosa, they’d done a lot of dominating, but not a lot of winning. The sad thing is is that both games didn’t make the Top Five games of the 2011 season. Here are your top 10 involving SEC teams – and yes, we’ve involved some non-conference ones too. And sorry Texas A&M and Missouri fans, your teams aren’t
