UGA dismisses another safety

You can’t make this up – Georgia has dismissed another secondary player. This time, it’s rising sophomore Tray Matthews. With Josh Harvey-Clemons and Shaq Wiggins off the team, the Bulldogs’ secondary was already looking a little thin, and then Mark Richt hit the Bulldog Nation with this bomb. “We are trying to make room for guys who want to do things right“, Richt said. Matthews refused to mention why he’d been dismissed, saying that he “couldn’t talk about it right now”. He also tweeted that he could end up playing for Auburn or Louisville. Matthews had been arrested for three counts of theft in the off-season, in a charge relating to double-dipping on scholarship checks, Macon.com has reported. Matthews, who

In celebration of ESPN’s delivery of the College Football’s week-by-week schedule and team schedules (we’re just trying to get our breath back!), we’re going to rank the SEC’s top games for the opening weekend. We don’t know who the new Johnny, Jadeveon, or Tre’s going to be. Or the new AJ, Zach or Aaron is going to be. Or Connor, Odell, Jarvis or Jeremy. We don’t know how Derek is going to set out his D at Vanderbilt, or Jeremy at Georgia. You know, if there’s enough Georgia players not in jail. We don’t know. But this delivery of schedule gives us one thing during the Madness of March: Adrenaline. So, without further ado: 1) Texas A&M at South Carolina

Richt’s reaction to Georgia arrests

Georgia coach Mark Richt has said that there will be “consequences” for the four players who were arrested for double-dipping on their stipend checks on Monday night. “Obviously we had some guys that did foolish things, and there will be consequences”, he said in a press conference after Georgia’s Spring Practice on Tuesday, even though safety Tray Matthews, defensive linemen Jonathan Taylor and James DeLoach and wide receiver Uriah LeMay all practiced on Tuesday. The four were charged with ‘theft by deception’ for cashing in stipend checks from the Georgia Athletic Department, totalling about $786 (or $71 each). “You don’t want to act like it didn’t happen. We are going to address everything head on”, he said in a press

Clemson suspends four for Georgia clash

Clemson has suspended four players before the season-opening clash against Georgia. Defensive end Corey Crawford, guard David Beasley, cornerback Garry Peters and offensive tackle Shaq Anthony were all told that they weren’t be going to Sanford Stadium to face the Bulldogs….who dismissed starting safety Josh Harvey-Clemons earlier this off-season. Clemson coach Dabo Swinney said: “A huge part of our program is teaching accountability, responsibility and that there are consequences for your actions. These are four good young men, but they broke a team rule and as a result, they will each miss a game. I am hopeful that they will learn and grow from this and have a great 2014 season on and off the field.” BOTTOM LINE: Crawford’s going to

Georgia boots star safety

Georgia has revealed that it has dismissed star safety Josh Harvey-Clemsons. Harvey-Clemons, who had already been suspended for the first three games of the season for more problems involving his relationship with cannabis, as well as Georgia’s 2014 Bowl Game loss to Nebraska. Georgia has not made any other details available. BOTTOM LINE: Harvey-Clemons being booted off the team is hardly surprising, but it doesn’t do Georgia’s secondary any favors going into its mouthwatering clashes at the start of the season with Clemson and Georgia.

South Carolina comes in with solid National Signing Day haul

With Jadeveon Clowney and three other juniors going to the pros – as well as talisman quarterback Connor Shaw- South Carolina needed to shore up their class with an excellent National Signing Day…..and did. A lot of the big signings were on the defensive side. Steve Spurrier picked up DE Dante Sawyer, LB Bryson Allen-Williams and defensive tackle Dexter Wideman – who had committed earlier to Florida State – and reports have said that they expect DE Jhaustin Thomas to make an impact, too. Four-star Defensive back Chris Lammons came aboard, and DE Blake McClain, who was meant to be going to Nebraska, decided that he preferred the Palmetto State as well. On the offensive side, the Head Ball Coach lost his

Georgia suspends top safety for first three games of 2014

Georgia has suspended top safety Josh Harvey-Clemons for the first three games of the 2014 season after once again ‘violating team rules’, following on from the player’s suspension from the Bulldogs’ loss in the Gator Bowl to Nebraska. Harvey-Clemons will miss Georgia’s home game against Clemson, the road game at South Carolina, and the home game against Troy. With him missing (and if there’s no immediate improvement with new DC Jeremy Pruitt), the Dawgs could easily go 1-2. Harvey-Clemons wasn’t allowed to travel with the team to the Gator Bowl after he reportedly violated the school’s drug abuse policy for a second time. He had already been suspended for the first game of the season against Clemson after a drug

AP Poll 1: Bama still No.1, Georgia out of Top 10

The AP Poll’s just come out, and there’s no surprises who is No.1: Alabama. The Crimson Tide are top of the polls after their win over Virginia Tech, however unconvincing it actually was. Georgia has plunged to 11 after its loss at Clemson, which in turn moved to No.4 in the nation. South Carolina stayed in 6th, Texas A&M’s 7th, LSU’s 9th, and Florida’s 12th.   Here’s the Top 25 for you: 1) Alabama (58) 2) Oregon – Apparently beating Nicholls State convincingly is better than beating Buffalo uncovincingly. 3) Ohio State (1) – See Oregon 4) Clemson (1) – Should be higher after beating Oregon. We’d have them at 1 or 2. 5) Stanford – Stanford! It’s YOUR fault

Can The Dawgs Make Another Championship Game? 2013 Georgia Bulldogs Preview

Some people blame the play on Aaron Murray. Some blame it on Mark Richt. Some people just blame it on God. Because God, that loss in the SEC Championship Game stung Georgia fans so much more than losing to Georgia Tech, because this could have been the time when the Dawgs talked about being a National Championship team (we think they would have beaten Notre Dame as easily as Alabama). But the Dawgs are back. They are Jarvis Jones-less. They are Rambo-less. They go to Clemson and South Carolina at home on the second game – against another hated foe, Steve Spurrier. That’s the nation’s hardest first two games by an absolute mile. Something thinks they might win a National
