Why aren’t we hearing more about COVID-19 from SEC coaches?

Today Florida said that they had 7 COVID-19 cases on their team, up from six from last week. The news silenced practice for today – not great news for Dan Mullen’s team that start the season against Ole Miss on September 26th. Right now, practice is important. Earlier on, Ed Orgeron said about COVID-19: “”I think most — not all of our players — but most of our players have caught it… I think hopefully they don’t catch it again and hopefully they’re not out for games… I’m not going to say all of them…. But some players have caught it. I don’t know the percentage. Hopefully, that once you catch it, you don’t get it again.” Orgeron declined to talk about

LSU get Farrell back as another DL opts out

LSU has got one of its best defensive lineman back after he opted out earlier in the summer. Defensive end Neil Farrell Jr, who had 46 tackles, 3 sacks, 7 tackles for loss and a forced fumble in 15 games opted out after his grandmother was ill this summer. He’s back in now. That will help Ed Orgeron, who recently saw reserve DL Nelson Jenkins decide to opt out of the season.

LSU DT Shelvin to opt out of 2020 season

LSU defensive tackle Tyler Shelvin is going to opt out of the 2020 season. The 6-3, 364 lb junior is widely-tipped to be one of the top picks at his position in the 2021 NFL Draft. Last year he had 39 total tackles – including 3 tackles for loss and 13 solo tackles, as well 2 defended passes. That led LSU’s starters for the year. He was a massive unit to stop – a reason that although he started all 15 games, he didn’t record a tackle against Oklahoma and Clemson in the College Football Play-Off games.

LSU hires new passing game coordinator

LSU has hired former St Louis Rams head coach Scott Linehan to be its new passing game coordinator. Linehan will replace Joe Brady, who put together a stunningly brilliant offense, won the SEC and then the National Championship in convincing fashion. Brady is now the offensive coordinator at the Carolina Panthers, where he will work for former Baylor head coach Matt Rhule. Linehan is hardly the young mind that Brady was. He’s had a 30-year career both at NFL and college level Linehan started in 1989 with Idaho before moving onto Washington and Louisville, before he landed a NFL job as OC for the Minnesota Vikings and the Miami Dolphins, before becoming the head coach of the St Louis Rams between

Can Texas A&M tame the Tide?: Week 8 SEC Preview

Texas A&M vs Alabama didn’t need a lot of hype after Johnny Manziel beat the Tide almost single-handedly in 2012, and was great in 2013 too. The rivalry took some time off in 2014 and 2015, after the games were basically a replay of SlaughterHouse 5: Saban Version, when the Tide massacred the Aggies. But the 2016 version? Wow. This could be AWESOME. Both teams are unbeaten atop the SEC West, and there’s talk about title games, play-off entries and the suchlike. It’s going to awesome. Elsewhere, LSU faces its first test after the arrival of Ed Orgeron with the visit of Ole Miss, and Arkansas goes to Auburn. Elsewhere, Mississippi State vs Kentucky WILL BE PLAYED AND SOMEONE WILL HAVE
