Why aren’t we hearing more about COVID-19 from SEC coaches?

Today Florida said that they had 7 COVID-19 cases on their team, up from six from last week. The news silenced practice for today – not great news for Dan Mullen’s team that start the season against Ole Miss on September 26th. Right now, practice is important. Earlier on, Ed Orgeron said about COVID-19: “”I think most — not all of our players — but most of our players have caught it… I think hopefully they don’t catch it again and hopefully they’re not out for games… I’m not going to say all of them…. CFB Play-Off: LSU: Tiger Walk or Tiger Upset?

The College Football Play-Off is upon us on Saturday, and we’re all quite excited. After arguments over neutral site bowl games, losses to South Carolina/Arizona State/Kansas State, it’s all set in place, and 4 winners of 4 conferences are in the four semi-finals. As usual – it seems – the best team is being left out in Oregon, but that’s due to their self-shooting at Arizona State, so no sympathy there. Drama on the Plains as Gatewood leaves Auburn

Game 7 of the World Series is drama enough. There are the ups, downs, shocks, disappointments and celebrations. You know, like Auburn’s season…..every year. Well, this year the drama increased when it was announced that freshman quarterback Joey Gatewood has left the team. Jalen Hurts didn’t last a long time in College Football’s infamous transfer window: He’s going to Oklahoma. In a piece in the Player’s Tribune, he thanked Alabama for his career, and then said that he was “taking his talents” to Norman. “For that I have so many people to thank. Should Georgia or Oklahoma be in the College Football play-off?

And so, it happened. Georgia didn’t have to beat Alabama in the SEC Championship Game to cause bedlam….they just had to play the Crimson Tide close. Close? The Bulldogs damned nearly beat them, ramming the ball down their throat during a first half whirling dervish. The second half was your usual tale of Alabama adjusting, Georgia being a little more conservative – an assinine 4th-and-11 call side – and Alabama have two National Championship-winning quarterbacks to use to take home a 35-28 victory. Georgia’s move to No.4 creates a real headache

Georgia is back in the College Football Play-Off standings, folks. The 11-1 Bulldogs moved to No.4 in the standings behind Alabama, Clemson and Notre Dame. Behind the Dawgs are Oklahoma and Ohio State. Georgia moved up because their comfortable win against Georgia Tech twinned with Michigan’s monster loss to Ohio State. Big Blue fell out of the mix, and was leapfrogged by Oklahoma (who won in a shoot-out at West Virginia) and the Buckeyes. THE HEADACHE AND PERMUATIONS If Georgia beats Alabama, they are in. Top 10 Non-SEC National Title Contenders

Sad as we may say, there are National Title Contenders outside of the SEC. And yes, we know they actually exist. Anyway, so here we go: Clemson: Dabo Swinney won one a couple of a seasons ago, and the Tigers’ defense is going to be an absolute beast this year. Oh, and offensively they’ll be pretty good too. We expect them to beat Texas A&M, walk the ACC, and win their home game at season-end against South Carolina. Ohio State: Urban Meyer’s a horrible piece of human garbage, but his QB Dwayne Haskins is the real deal. The school also churns out talented player after talented player. Unless they play Iowa.
