The quarterbacking foursome of the Four Ms lead SEC names invited to the NFL Combine. Texas A&M's Heisman winner Johnny Manziel, Alabama's AJ McCarron, Georgia's Aaron Murray and LSU's Zach Mettenberger have all been invited to the Combine, which starts on February 19th. Connor Shaw at South Carolina has also been invited. While Manziel, McCarron and Shaw will probably make the trip, it's not certain if Murray and Mettenberger will have recovered enough from injuries they sustained at the end of the year to partake - which may drop their draft status, despite both players' electric arms Read more [...]

LSU left tackle La'el Collins has decided to stay at LSU for his senior season. The giant tackle, who weight 315 pounds and stands 6 ft 5, decided to stay in school after starting for 25 games that he could have featured in. LSU RB Hill and Guard Turner declare for draft

LSU junior running back Jeremy Hill and guard Trai Turner have both declared for the NFL Draft. Hill said on his Twitter account: "I am a Tiger for life. I will forever be grateful to my LSU fans, friends, coaches and family. This decision has been very difficult for me..... With all of that being said, I have decided to forego my Junior season and enter the 2014 NFL Draft." The loss of Hill will be huge for LSU fans who - at the start of the 2013 season - were probably wondering if Hill would actually be playing for LSU at all. Hill was involved in a fracas outside the 'Tigerland' set of Read more [...]
Georgia defensive co-ordinator Todd Grantham is going to Louisville, reports say. ESPN's Joe Schad, quoting sources, said Grantham will get $1m-per-year guaranteed on a five-year contract. Grantham came to Georgia in 2010 after stints at Virginia Tech, Michigan State and in the NFL with Indianapolis, Cleveland and Dallas in varying assistant head coach positions. In 2013 Georgia's defence was 79th in the country in points conceded, 40th in run defense, 60th in passing yards allowed. BOTTOM LINE: The biggest thing for the Bulldogs hasn't been Grantham's recruiting: He's able to bring Read more [...]

AJ McCarron to stay at Bama, Lattimore goes

AJ McCarron has said that he's going to stay at Alabama for his senior year. The junior quarterback, who was considered a Heisman candidate before he was outshone by Johnny Manziel in the loss to Texas A&M, revealed the news at a press conference on Wednesday. He said:  "I had many goals for myself when I came to the University of Alabama. I have been lucky enough to achieve some of those goals, but some are still ahead of me. SEC Football Blog’s All-SEC team

Sorry we've been out of touch.....we've been at the SEC Championship Game (did we mention that?), and running around. Anyway, since we've been gone a bit, we'd like to point out a few things: 1) We're still on the fence about whether we're rooting for Alabama, Notre Dame, or nobody at the National Championship Game. 2) Well done to Johnny Manziel for winning the Heisman. Great for Texas A&M, and great for SEC Football to have a Heisman winner (again). However, Collin Klein probably had a better body of work, but Manziel beat Alabama. And if anyone beats Alabama, they deserve plaudits. Read more [...]
Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer, Ready to reload Alabama? It's no secret that 2011-2012 National Champions Alabama lost a load of talent to the NFL, but this is Nick Saban. He's recruiting brilliantly (again), he's one of the best coaches in the game (name us someone better), and Alabama ought to be OK for the 2012-3 season - which is why they are again one of the favorites to go to the National Title game. LAST SEASON Y'all know what happened last season. Alabama won the National Championship, hammering LSU 21-0. Should they have actually been in the National Championship Game? Well, the Read more [...]
When people think of the words: "Mississippi State", they think of the word "Cowbell" rather than "Good football team". This is rather harsh, bearing in mind the turnaround that Dan Mullen has put into Starkville in his last three years. The fanbase now EXPECTS to go bowling, because they've been to one for the last two years (which, for a team that had only been to one over the course of 2002-2009, it's a miracle!), and high times are now behind the former University of Florida's former offensive co-ordinator. They are going to tempt recruits with a $75m stadium expansion, which should see Read more [...]

Alabama receiver to transfer

Sometimes, just because you're the son of one of the NFL's biggest-ever receivers doesn't mean that you're going to be an automatic shoo-in in the arena of College Football....particularly at the University of Alabama. Duron Carter, son of NFL great Chris Carter, is leaving Tuscaloosa, ESPN has reported. Alabama became Carter's school after he transferred from Ohio State, but he had academic problems, and he also landed in Nick Saban's doghouse. He was suspended in March along with two players. At the time Saban said: "It's not up to me. It's up to them, so i don't really need to spend Read more [...]
