Week 2 Ratings: Texas A&M leads the headlines (and not in a good way)

Although everyone was focussed about a little game in Austin pitching two of the most hated superpowers in College Football against each other, the biggest result against happened in (relative) far away College Station, when Texas A&M was defeated 17-14 by Appalachian State, capping off a wonderful weekend for the Sun Belt. Elsewhere, Kentucky surprised Florida and made AR looking ordinary, KJ Jefferson led Arkansas to a convincing win over South Carolina and Missouri was kerb-stomped by Kansas State. Most of the other games went to form. Personally speaking, our big whiff was predicting a Vanderbilt win over Wake Forest. We didn’t think Sam Hartman would be back for the Demon Deacons. The final week….Is Rivalry Week: Week 13 SEC Predictions

Happy Thanksgiving. Finally, we’ll all be able to see each other again. We’ll crack jokes, maybe laugh a little, and try and tell ourselves that we like sweet potato pie and can definitely have two helping of Momma’s Yams. During those family reunions, cousins of different in-state college dispositions will meet up, drink far too much bourbon, and argue like children. There will be discussions of tree-poisoning, and dog-pissing. But everywhere – from internet to in-your-face- will become a cesspool of bitter collegiate football division. SEC Preview: Can Alabama repeat this season?

Alabama’s National Championship last season was a beauty. They buried defenses on offense, and after the Ole Miss near-debacle, they buried defenses too. But the NFL scourged a team like we’ve never team. The Crimson Tide had SIX first round picks (WRs Jaylen Waddle, DeVonta Smith, CB Patrick Surtain, QB Mac Jones, OT Alex Leatherwood, RB Najee Harris), plus second rounder C Lance Dickerson and DT Christian Barmore and OG Deonte Brown (6th round) and LS Thomas Fletcher (6th round). LB Dylan Moses, TE Miller Forristall, TE Carl Tucker and LB Josh McMillon. Costello, Harris and a Georgia QB: Week 2 SEC Players to watch

It’s Week 2 of the SEC Football season, and we’ve already seen a monster upset with LSU losing at home to Mississippi State, a very weird Vanderbilt vs Texas A&M game where the Aggies were awful and didn’t get remotely near the spread, and a true ‘game of two halves’ between Georgia and Arkansas, where Georgia looked like a Dawgs’ breakfast in the first half, and then did the Razorbacks dawgy-style in the second half. Week 1 SEC Rankings

Who impressed us most this year in the SEC? Mississippi State (1-0): It shouldn’t really have stunned people to find out that KJ Costello, who threw for 3,540 yards and 26 TDs in his 2018 year and had already hit another 1,038 in his second before he was injured at Stanford was a good quarterback, and yet Gary & Brad just made stupid jokes about him being a Stanford grad all day long. Costello threw for 623 yards and 5 TDs on LSU. It wasn’t always pretty (he threw 60 times and only had a 65.2% completion percentage and was responsible for two bad turnovers), but Leach’s offense hit TEN different receivers, led by Osirius Mitchell, Kylin Hill and JaVonta
