It’s 99 days to go until the college football season starts, and we’re pretty excited. So excited, in fact, that we’re ranking all of the entrances/pregame traditions in the SEC. Nick Saban is furious. Nick Saban wants his nine-game SEC schedule, and he’s going to stand on his Crimson Tide-colored soapbox to get it. Why the SEC is putting out this schedule we’ll never know, but it’s certainly welcome. Mississippi State beats Texas to 2015 QB

Mississippi State has signed three-star quarterback Chason Virgil. Virgil, who hails from Vesquite, TX, is 6ft-2 and 170lb, and is ranked 23rd in the nation in pro-style quarterbacks and 55th in the State of Texas. “I called Coach (Brian) Johnson and I had already told him two days ago that I wanted to commit but I knew they were so busy earlier in the week. Ole Miss beats five SEC schools to 2015 4-star RB

Ole Miss has added four-star running back Eric Swinney. Swinney, who’s from Sandy Creek HS from Tyrone, GA, was heavily recruited by Alabama, Auburn and Arkansas, Georgia and Tennessee. Florida State, Kentucky, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin also pursued him. Swinney, 5ft-10 and 188lb, is ranked by 24-7Sports as the 12th-best running back and 9th-best player in the State of Georgia.

SEC’s 6-1-1 schedule: The Pros and Cons

Les Miles is furious that LSU will remain Florida’s permanent cross-division rival for the foreseeable future. The SEC announced Sunday that they are going to keep the 6-1-1 structure, with a permanent rival ensuring that LSU plays Florida. Auburn and Georgia will keep The South’s Oldest Rivalry, and Alabama will play Tennessee. They will also be mandated to play one out-of-conference game against one team from either the ACC, Pac-12, Big XII or Big Ten per year starting 2016. Would anyone force Steve Spurrier to resign?

It’s interesting, reading excerpts of Steve Spurrier’s interview with ESPN’s Chris Low. Apparently he said that he’d rather not be siphoned off into retirement, but instead simply “resign”. “I like resign a lot better“, said the South Carolina coach. “Retiring sounds too much like you’re going to sit around and not do a whole lot. I’m not a sit-around kind of guy.” The problem is is that with Steve Spurrier could be a victim of his own success. Steve Spurrier has guided South Carolina to three straight 11 wins seasons (2011, 2012, 2013). He’s also had three-straight bowl wins. Mississippi State O-Lineman arrested

Mississippi State offensive linesman Jordan Washington and recently-graduated Bulldog offensive linesman Charles Siddoway were both arrested on Wednesday for burglary and robbery. Both were charged. Siddoway was an ever-present in the Mississippi State for the two years he started on the offensive line, while sophomore Washington is expected to be a back-up after not starting in 2013. ESPN says that incident happened in an apartment complex near MSU’s campus, in which Siddoway was identified, and then Washington. Washington has been suspended by coach Dan Mullen.

Manziel: “Leaving Texas A&M was a horrible mistake”

Leaving Texas A&M after just two years of being the starting quarterback for the Aggies was a massive mistake, Johnny Manziel has revealed. The Heisman-winning quarterback of 2012 said in an interview: “After the Pro Day at College Station, and I realized: I made a horrible mistake leaving College Station a year early. I could have stayed another year, got through some of my errors – I still regret some of those turnovers- and won the Heisman again.” And let’s face it: Manziel is from a family who doesn’t exactly need the money, either. In celebration of ESPN’s delivery of the College Football’s week-by-week schedule and team schedules (we’re just trying to get our breath back!), we’re going to rank the SEC’s top games for the opening weekend.
