If you are an Auburn and Arkansas fan, you had an intensely forgettable Saturday. Of course, Auburn survived mighty Jacksonville State -- in overtime -- with the rest of the SEC cheering on the Tigers to fall, while Arkansas comedically fell at 'home' to Toledo (2014 record: 9-4, 7-1 MAC). Elsewhere, Missouri and Florida struggled with Arkansas State and East Carolina respectively, Tennessee gave up a 17-0 lead to Oklahoma in the best atmosphere of the day in Neyland, and Les Miles was Les Miles (and LSU won despite it). Saturday's SEC games saw victories for all SEC schools playing - including resounding ones for Texas A&M, Auburn and Alabama in the three biggest games out there. So here are our big thoughts about the SEC's Saturday. 1. Texas A&M's performance impresses Great performance by the Aggies, who crushed Arizona State 38-17 and looked comfortable. Texas A&M's 2014 was an interesting one. After slaughtering South Carolina on the road, their QB Kenny Hill trademarked his nickname to "Kenny Trill", and subsequently sucked. So much so he had to be replaced by Kyle Allen. The Aggies could have easily gone 7-6 instead of 8-5 --- with a two SEC wins -- if Arkansas hadn't choked at JerryWorld. Kevin Sumlin, the Texas A&M head coach, has admitted that thr straight losses to LSU led him to hiring new defensive co-ordinator John Chavis. Firstly, the question: "Coach, you guys played LSU the last three seasons. They held you to under 20 points in all three games, all losses. The SEC Media Days (July 13-16) don't generally have a whole lot, yet they are still entertaining. We love Les Miles. We do. The grass-eating, kiss-you-all-on-the-mouth maverick coach pulls two or three results out his butt every year (and also loses a couple of games like that too!), loses talent every year, and still keeps LSU competitive. He's a miracle worker in a place where miracles are much talked-about, because 13-0 is expected. And if not, he's the most hated coach in Louisiana, if not the South. Surely, this must be the weirdest story out there today. Texas A&M DC John Chavis is suing former employer LSU as well as his current employer Texas A&M over this new contract. Chavis, who left LSU at the end of the season for College Station, where he replaced much harangued/awful defensive co-ordinator Mark Snyder, is suing LSU because the Baton Rouge school has asked Chavis for $400,000 which he claims he does not owe. LSU and Auburn have both taken defensive co-ordinators from their biggest rival, Alabama. In a stunning Tuesday, Kevin Steele, the Crimson Tide's inside linebackers coach, defected to LSU to become the Tigers' new defensive co-ordinator, after John Chavis left for Texas A&M after the firing of Mark Snyder before the bowl season after an awful season for the Aggies. Steele had previously been a defensive co-ordinator at Clemson, where his team saw 70 dropped on them by West Virginia in the 2012 Orange Bowl.
