Vanderbilt Head Coach James Franklin to go to Penn State – reports

Vanderbilt head coach James Franklin is going to leave the SEC and be the next coach of Penn State, according to reports. Franklin, who had been head coach in Nashville since 2011, took the Commodores to an unprecedented two straight bowl games, going 2-0. They beat Houston 41-24 in their last one only last week. But Vanderbilt has denied the rumors. “Until I hear otherwise, he (James Franklin) is Vanderbilt’s football coach,” said Vandy AD David Williams to Jeff Lockridge at the Tennessean, who tweeted this out. Penn State site Fight On State said Franklin had signed a contract, but the deal had yet to be approved by the Penn State Board of Trustees. Gators rising- SEC Power Rankings Week 6

Georgia came through Knoxville ‘scathed’ but with an overtime victory. South Carolina survived a furious comeback from Kentucky. Auburn survived a furious comeback from Ole Miss. LSU blew an early lead against Mississippi State and then hit another gear and blew ’em out. Florida and Arkansas was a nasty game…and not in a good way. Alabama had no problems with Georgia State…apart from keeping the score down. Oh, and in the ‘Under-The-Radar Game Of The Day’….Missouri destroyed Vanderbilt…which really impressed us. 1) Bama- Not about today’s destruction of GSU (it could have been 70, let’s face it!), but this team’s D and no little offense is the best team in the country. 2) Florida- Defense is nasty. Missouri names starting QB

Missouri coach Gary Pinkel has named James Franklin as his starting quarterback for the first game of the season against Murray State. Franklin, who spent a lot of 2013 injured, still had 1,562 yards passing with 10 TDs and 7 INTS. He beat redshirt freshman Maty Mauk to the finish, although it has been reported that Mauk may well get some in-game play as experience for the SEC. Wow. On ‘Moving Day’ in the SEC, the elevator up took South Carolina and Florida, and on the way down it took Georgia, LSU, and Auburn as it fell. What a Week 3 it was.
