Florida close to firing OC and other staff – reports

Florida is close to firing offensive co-ordinator Brent Pease and a number of other Florida assistants, CBSSports.com has reported. Bruce Feldman wrote: “Earlier this week a source told me that Florida would be getting rid of offensive coordinator Brent Pease after this season and offensive line coach Tim Davis also would be gone. But after the Gators dismal showing in the loss to Georgia Southern on Saturday, UF’s first loss to an FCS program, there’s even more doubt about whether Will Muschamp also gets canned this winter despite AD Jeremy Foley’s “1,000 percent” support comment last week. This wasn’t even an FCS program with a winning record in its own conference the Gators lost to.” He added: “I thought Muschamp

Florida AD backs Muschamp

Florida AD Jeremy Foley has backed under-fire Head Coach Will Muschamp. He told Florida Gators website Gatorzone.com: “As athletic director, I’m a thousand percent convinced that Will Muschamp is the guy to lead this football program,’’ Foley said inside his office at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. “Nothing has changed in what we feel about Will Muschamp from the day we hired him. “Everyone around here wants the same thing. We want to do what is right for the University of Florida. We understand that this football season has not gone the way any of us wanted it to go, certainly not the way our fans wanted it to go, and most of all, not the way Will Muschamp wanted it

Florida Gators Looking Toothless: SEC Power Rankings After Week 11

If you think that things couldn’t have gotten a lot worse for the Florida Gators football program, then they did. They got a lot worse. They got Put-Will-Muschamp-On-The-Freaking-Hotseat Worse. That’ll happen when you lose at home to Vanderbilt for the first time since two years after the Second World War ended (that’s 1947 folks!). Elsewhere in the SEC, Alabama got a fright from LSU but dealt with them unsympathetically, we saw the Good Johnny and Bad Johnny at The Last Home Game at the old Kyle Field (but A&M scored 50 which was enough to beat Mississippi State), and there were wins for Ole Miss, Missouri, Auburn and Georgia. Anyway, here’s your SEC Power Rankings. Hint: Florida isn’t No.1. 1.

Georgia/Florida Game Helps SEC Week 10 slate

TWe’re not going to lie….we needed a rest after the shenanigans of a last few weeks, and with the weakness of the Week 10 slate, we (thankfully) will be able to focus on who’s going to hit wide left and wide right in the Miami vs Florida State game, because after 3.30pm, the SEC slate just ain’t good. There are ZERO….ZERO Top 25 match-ups between SEC teams this week. Don’t get us wrong, if Florida and Georgia hadn’t gotten so injured, we think that Florida and Georgia could have been THE SEC East decider and The Biggest Game In The Country in Week 10. But it wasn’t to be. So come on Georgia and Florida, save our lives…. SO HERE ARE

Tennessee Chomped, Tigers beat Tigers: Week 4 SEC Rankings

It wasn’t a good week for Jeff Driskel. He saw his season end with a broken fibula against Tennessee…..which he broke while throwing a Pick 6. That capped what has been a fairly awful start to the year. But the good news for the Gators is that they bounced back with replacement QB Tyler Murphy, and the Gators chomped Tennessee, who looked dreadful offensively AND defensively. Oh, and LSU beat Auburn in rainy Death Valley. And Arkansas embarrassed the SEC by losing at Rutgers. Anyway, here are our power rankings after Week 4: 1) LSU: The LSU Tigers are STILL No.1 in our rankings, because of their first half performance against Auburn. The game, while interesting as LSU lost concentration

Will the Gators eat the SEC alive? 2013 Florida Gators Preview

Like a lot of seasons the Florida Gators are where they are used to be: ranked, one of three favorites for the SEC East and therefore a place in the SEC Championship, off a Top-5 recruiting class (meaning there’s MORE great talent coming through). But unlike other seasons (particularly under a certain Mr Meyer and Mr Spurrier), there are still some massive questions around the team’s offense. So here we go… LAST SEASON: With a new coach at the helm in Will Muschamp, the Gators finished 11-2 (7-1 in the SEC). This is including a victory at Texas A&M (now quite the achievement – imagine what would have happened if this game was in November, folks), and wins against LSU, South

State Attorney’s office decides not to charge Florida LB

The Florida State attorney’s office has decided not to charge Florida’s Antonio Morrison after the talented linebacker was arrested for barking at a police dog on Saturday night, according to Gator Nation. Yes, we’re serious. To misquote Snoop Doggy Dogg – barking at a police dog was the case that they gave him. “To be fair, law enforcement officers are not lawyers or fully aware of what the courts require. Nonetheless, and fair or not, their decisions must meet those standards,” said state attorney William Cervone said, adding that he dropped the charges after seeing the police video. “The charge of interfering with a police animal requires malice, and none exists. lt also requires that the animal be engaged in

Florida D-Line Coach Bryant Young Resigns

Florida defensive line coach Bryant Young has resigned, according to multiple news sources. According to Yahoo Sports, Young told the Gators at a team meeting on Wednesday that he was leaving to spend more time with his family. ”After heavy consideration and giving over two decades to the game of football, I have made a personal decision to resign from my position at the University of Florida in order to pursue more time with my family,” he said in a statement. ”I am humbled by and grateful for the opportunity I have had to positively influence the hardworking student-athletes and young men whom I will surely miss. ”However, I have come to the realization that it is time to invest

Tennessee (Finally) Fires Derek Dooley

Tennessee fans today got the news that they weren’t surprised or shocked about: Derek Dooley has been fired as the Volunteers head coach. After his team was drilled 41-18 by Vanderbilt, Dooley was told that he wouldn’t be returning. And he wouldn’t even be asked to coach the team’s game against Kentucky, either. And to make matters worse, but buying out Dooley’s contract will cost Tennessee a cool $5 million (FIVE MIIIIILION DOLLARS!). Dooley’s highlights included (per The Clairon-Ledger): A 15-21 record A 0-15 record against ranked teams (we start to think what might have happened to Mark Richt if UGA hadn’t beaten Florida) An 0-7 SEC record this year, despite being a dark horse for the SEC East title

The days after Armageddon: SEC Rankings (With apologies)

First Alabama – LSU happened. Then Obama happened. Sorry boys and gals, we haven’t been as up-to-date as we should be with our SEC rankings. Anyway, here they are… 1. Alabama – Survived LSU. You have to wonder what John Chavis was doing playing soft coverage though in that last drive. 2 = Georgia – Woke up from a 10-0 deficit against Ole Miss to hammer Ole Reb 37-10 in a performance that got stronger by the minute. We look forward to the SEC Championship Game, Dawgs. 2= LSU – A team very like Georgia who only woke up in the second half of the Alabama game. Atmosphere second-to-none in Death Valley, by the way. Good on you, LSU fans.
