The SEC produces a lot of NFL WRs and RBs, but why not QBs?

The SEC is going to continue a strong tradition of NFL wideouts come to the 2018 NFL Draft. Calvin Ridley (Alabama), and Christian Kirk (Texas A&M) are both expected to be first or second round picks in April, while it’s expected that there will be takers for DJ Chark (LSU), Antonio Callaway (Florida), JMon Moore (Missouri), Javon Wims (Georgia) and Robert Foster (Alabama). In 2019 the top wide receiver going is probably going to be Ole Miss’ AJ Brown, although Deebo Samuel (South Carolina), Tyrie Cleveland (Florida) and Terry Godwin (Georgia) could also create some noise if their 2018 seasons go as well as they are hoping for. Missouri QB Drew Lock to stay for senior year

Despite having his offensive co-ordinator replaced, Missouri QB Drew Lock has opted to stay for his senior year in Columbia. “I’m very excited about coming back for my senior year, and I’m really optimistic about we can do as a team next year,” Lock said. Lock threw for 3,964 yards and 44 TDs last season. As we mentioned, Lock will have to play for a new OC, though….and a strange decision for one at that. Missouri decided that they would opt out of getting former UCLA OC Jedd Fisch and instead get former Tennessee head coach Derek Dooley. To say the least, the fanbase weren’t too happy with Barry Odom’s decision – but they’ll be happier about Lock’s.

Alabama Rising, Florida flying – Week 5 SEC Rankings

Week 5 of the season came and went with these feelings about the SEC: The Swamp was titinus-causingly loud. And Florida is good. Or Ole Miss was overrated. Alabama playing at their best will be unbeatable. Or Georgia was overrated. Auburn fans toilet-papered Toomer’s Corner out of relief. Les Miles has got to get his team’s head together against lower opponents. Maty Mauk may have started his last game for Missouri. South Carolina is awful. Kentucky is overrated. Texas A&M is good. Missouri suspends QB Mauk

Missouri has suspended its starting quarterback Maty Mauk for the South Carolina game for disciplinary reasons, the school has said. No-one quite knows what the disciplinary reasons were, but Missouri fans DO know that Mauk has struggled throughout this season, constantly making bad throws, completing just 51% of his throws for 654 yards, 6 TDs and 4 INTs. It was said during a Missouri podcast that Mauk could have thrown three interceptions in one drive had Kentucky’s secondary been able to catch the ball. The pressure is now going to be on freshman QB Drew Lock to perform against the Gamecocks. The fans seem to like Lock more than Mauk at the moment….and now’s the time to prove it.

Ranking and Predicting Saturday’s SEC games – Week 2

Missouri 2015 Preview: QB Controversy Brewing?

We hadn’t heard of Drew Lock before we listened to the excellent Missouri-dedicated podcast ‘Mizzodcast’, but everything’s going to be pretty interesting under center if he continues his off-season challenge to QB Maty Mauk. Last season Missouri – in another stunning season – won the SEC East and was then brutalized in the SEC Championship Game by Alabama. OFF-SEASON The biggest story was very nearly a tragic one. Defensive lineman Harold Brantley was caught in a car crash that seriously injured him. Thank God he’s still alive. He’s done for the season, but not for life. Missouri beats Ohio State, UT to four-star QB commit

Four-star QB Drew Lock has committed to the University of Missouri. Lock, who was pursued by Tennessee, Ohio State, Ole Miss as well as Missouri, is the ranked the 3rd best quarterback in the state and 136th in the country, according to 24-7 Sports. The Lees Summit, MO QB is 6ft 5, said at his early commitment announcement today: “I could have gone to UT and my parents would have cheered for me. Don’t think it would have been the same kind of cheering as at MU.” He added that Mizzou coach Gary Pinkel’s new extension with the school was a big factor in the decision.
