Stir Up The Echoes, Because We’re Facing Notre Dame: SEC Final Power Rankings

Wow. It’s all come so quickly. After only three months, the college football season is effectively over. Yes, there’s the SEC Championship Game, bowl games and the small thing called the National Championship Game is over, but there are no more SEC night games. There are no more big stadiums with parking lots filled with people cooking gumbo, drinking bourbon, and generally having a damned good time. The pageantry is over. We do know one thing: We are not going to see an all-SEC National Championship Game. Notre Dame saw to that, but taking care of Lane Kiffin’s USC in Los Angeles. But the question is is: Who’s going to play the Irish – Alabama or Georgia? Stir up the

The SEC loves Stanford and Baylor!! SEC Power Rankings

The SEC loves you, Stanford. Thank you for silencing Autzen. The SEC loves you, Baylor. Thank you for silencing the ‘Collin Klein for Heisman’ chants. Replace this with ‘ Johnny For Heisman’. This week was one of the most meaningful in the SEC …. without a lot of meaningful games in the SEC. Anyway, here are the rankings… 1) Bama 2) Georgia 3) LSU 4) UF 5) TAMU 6) USC 7) MSU 8) Vandy 9) Ole Miss 10) Mizzou 11) Tenn. 12) Arky 13) UK 14) Aub 1) Alabama – Ripped apart Western Carolina (who were 1-9 in the FCS, by the way). Biggest result for the Tide was BOTH Oregon and Baylor losing on Saturday. 2) Georgia – Ripped

After The Game Of The Century: Week 11 SEC Predictions

Well, what a week that was. Ole Miss got our hearts pumped by taking a 10 point lead at Georgia….and then conceded 37. Missouri got our hearts pumped by taking a 7 point lead at Florida…..and then conceded 14. LSU and Alabama got our hearts pumped that we actually felt sorry for the loser. Anyway, the SEC is back this week with no particular ‘heavyweight’ battles, although everyone seems to be looking forward to seeing how Johnny Manziel will cope with Alabama’s defense – which was actually a lot less of a ‘machine’ in Death Valley. If you’re listening to music, we guide you Mumford & Sons’ classic “Little Lion Man” , with the great line: “We ****ed it up

Bama Slammers: Alabama leads five SEC teams into BCS top 10

If you want complete and utter dominance in College Football, look no further than the SEC. Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Florida and South Carolina found themselves in the BCS top 10 – although Alabama has the only unblemished record. The Crimson Tide will put it on the line when they play LSU on Saturday, which – according to the bookies – they are already 10 point favorites for. 1. Alabama 2. Kansas State 3. Notre Dame 4. Oregon 5. LSU 6. Georgia 7. Florida 8. South Carolina 9. Florida State 10. Louisville

As Gators chomp, Aggies get ‘Les Miles-ed’ and Tide Roll – Week 8 SEC Rankings

We would go on and on about Steve Spurrier getting Spurrier-ed in The Swamp, Texas A&M finding out what it’s like when you don’t put away a team led by Les Miles, and how awful Georgia was at Kentucky, but we’ll let the rankings reflect our rambling thoughts. 1) Alabama – Darth Saban’s Crimson Death Star is blowing up every rebel ship in its way. This team seems to make no mistakes and is happy to simply crush the opposition – as Tennessee found out in a 31-point blow-out. And the women love it!!! 2) Florida – Will Muschamp’s side gets the turnovers, and then punishes those making the mistakes savagely and without mercy. The eternal sound on CBS on the

LSU, UGA’s Secondary Whimpers While Texas A&M Roars: SEC Week 5

Everyone talked before this week started that Week 5 was going to be one of the duller on College Football’s calendar – and maybe in college football’s history (ESPN love to do overdo it, don’t they?). Many felt that College Gameday SHOULD have gone down South to Texas at Oklahoma State or Baylor at West Virginia, but instead went to Ohio State at Michigan State. Or to Sanford Stadium for the Tennesee – Georgia game. But they whiffed. Instead they chose an out-an-out war between OSU and MSU, worthy of the ‘old days’ of college football where we loved brawn and battle, while all the three other games we’ve mentioned showed a ton of excitement and no defensive discipline at

After Notre Dame: SEC Rivalries The Conference Needs

For the sporting man like us, there’s always someone you love and someone you hate. For the SEC fan, the someone we love is our SEC team and the one we hate is their biggest rival. See Auburn and Alabama for example. Now, the madness that is the conference realignment has meant that one of college football’s best rivalry games – Notre Dame and Michigan – dies after 2014, going the way of West Virginia and Pittsburgh, and the One We Pray Will Get Resurrected, The Texas A&M- Texas game. Yes, we know that A&M are in the SEC now, but if Georgia can manage to play Georgia Tech, Florida can play Florida State and South Carolina can play Clemson,

Tide Rolls while Tigers, Hogs Roast: SEC Football Blog’s SEC 1-14

We admit it: We at the SEC Football Blog should have done more with our SEC Power Rankings (ie start in the first week), but there’s been very little on offer until now, and now we know a bit, we think we can provide some analysis to go with our picks. The soundtrack for today’s picks is Brad Paisley’s ‘Old Alabama’, because right now, Nick Saban’s the new Bear Bryant. 1. Alabama (4-0): The Crimson Tide have rolled everyone they have played against. No team has looked this complete this early. Sure, there are big tests to come (read: LSU on the road on Nov. 3rd), but Nick Saban is the best coach in college football. His team looks up

SEC Preseason Preview: Can Alabama reload and re-win?

Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer, Ready to reload Alabama? It’s no secret that 2011-2012 National Champions Alabama lost a load of talent to the NFL, but this is Nick Saban. He’s recruiting brilliantly (again), he’s one of the best coaches in the game (name us someone better), and Alabama ought to be OK for the 2012-3 season – which is why they are again one of the favorites to go to the National Title game. LAST SEASON Y’all know what happened last season. Alabama won the National Championship, hammering LSU 21-0. Should they have actually been in the National Championship Game? Well, the argument is is that the Crimson Tide didn’t even get to their Conference Championship Game. The other argument

SEC Preseason Preview: Can Missouri Roar In The East?

Here’s a quick tip for you: Missouri will scare the heck out of the SEC East – especially when they play teams at night in Farot Field. Remember: This is a team that’s beaten No.1s in the past on home turf (Ohio State and Oklahoma in a monster night games in front of a rabid, unforgiving crowd) and really, really wants the chance to do more damage in the future. I spoke to a buddy at Georgia about his team’s chances and he said: “We’re scared. Missouri aren’t going to take any prisoners and our guys certainly picked a time to get thrown off the team and eat hash brownies”. I think we could echo that. But anyway, this is
