Georgia probably took the lead a bit (partnered with Texas letting a player back on the team) when Freshman DB Shaq Jones was booted after being arrested for misdemeanour theft by shoplifting. In shocking news, another UGA player arrested

In shocking news, this weekend news emerged that yet another UGA player had been arrested – the seventh this off-season. This time it was reserve lineback Davin Bellamy for DUI and speeding in Athens. According to the Athens Banner-Herald, Bellamy was “clocked going 52 in a 35 mph zone heading east on College Station Road in Athens at 2:58 a.m when his 2001 Volvo was pulled over in the Kroger parking lot.” And when police smelt booze on his breath, he failed the sobriety test and police noted that he had “red, watery eyes“. Mark Richt comes out combative over Georgia drug rules

Mark Richt is used to criticism as head coach of the University of Georgia. Every year people place him on the hot-seat for either not beating South Carolina, or not beating Auburn, or losing a game they should win, or not beating a team by enough, and 2015 won’t be any different – although after beating Clemson and LSU, maybe the seat’s a LITTLE cooler. You can’t make this up – Georgia has dismissed another secondary player. This time, it’s rising sophomore Tray Matthews. With Josh Harvey-Clemons and Shaq Wiggins off the team, the Bulldogs’ secondary was already looking a little thin, and then Mark Richt hit the Bulldog Nation with this bomb. “We are trying to make room for guys who want to do things right“, Richt said. Richt’s reaction to Georgia arrests

Georgia coach Mark Richt has said that there will be “consequences” for the four players who were arrested for double-dipping on their stipend checks on Monday night. “Obviously we had some guys that did foolish things, and there will be consequences”, he said in a press conference after Georgia’s Spring Practice on Tuesday, even though safety Tray Matthews, defensive linemen Jonathan Taylor and James DeLoach and wide receiver Uriah LeMay all practiced on Tuesday. Four Georgia players were arrested on Monday night for theft, the Athens Banner-Herald has reported. The four arrested are safety Tray Matthews, defensive linemen Jonathan Taylor and James DeLoach and wide receiver Uriah LeMay. The four were arrested and charged with ‘theft by deception’. Clemson suspends four for Georgia clash

Clemson has suspended four players before the season-opening clash against Georgia. Defensive end Corey Crawford, guard David Beasley, cornerback Garry Peters and offensive tackle Shaq Anthony were all told that they weren’t be going to Sanford Stadium to face the Bulldogs….who dismissed starting safety Josh Harvey-Clemons earlier this off-season. Clemson coach Dabo Swinney said: “A huge part of our program is teaching accountability, responsibility and that there are consequences for your actions. These are four good young men, but they broke a team rule and as a result, they will each miss a game. Georgia boots star safety

Georgia has revealed that it has dismissed star safety Josh Harvey-Clemsons. Harvey-Clemons, who had already been suspended for the first three games of the season for more problems involving his relationship with cannabis, as well as Georgia’s 2014 Bowl Game loss to Nebraska. Georgia has not made any other details available. BOTTOM LINE: Harvey-Clemons being booted off the team is hardly surprising, but it doesn’t do Georgia’s secondary any favors going into its mouthwatering clashes at the start of the season with Clemson and Georgia.

UGA Offensive Linesman in transfer turnaround

Georgia offensive linesman Mark Beard has had a change of heart and will remain in the program, according to multiple reports. Apparently Beard had a change of mine and asked Georgia head coach Mark Richt to take him back. He’ll be part of the battle to be a starter for the Dawgs in 2014. Bulldawg Illustrated quoted Georgia head coach Mark Richt as saying: “Sometimes making a decision and living it out are two different things.  As I’ve mentioned before the same thing happened to me.  As a player I told my coach I had decided to leave for what I thought were all the right reasons.  But after a few days, I realized it was a bad decision and asked to come back.
