Between Bobby Petrino and Houston Nutt, the Arkansas Razorbacks have put together winning seasons for seven years out of the last 10, including a pretty wonderful 11-2 run in 2011. Every year the SEC dominates other schools in bowl games (unless you’re Michigan State, but less said about that the better) quite simply because they have the most difficult conference. The SEC Football Blog was reading a Twitter conversation between ESPN’s SEC writer Edward Aschoff and SEC football writer for College Football News Russ Mitchell where they were discussing the firing of Bobby Petrino, Arkansas‘ former coach who was fired after some off-season shenanigans involving one of his assistants. SEC Media Days: Chizik gives play-off thumbs up

Auburn Coach Gene Chizik gave the four-team college football play-off his approval at his SEC Media Day Conference in Hoover, Alabama on Wednesday. Dyer will not play for Arkansas State in 2012

Former Auburn running back Michael Dyer’s on-the-field reunion with Arkansas State coach Gus Malzahn will have to wait a year, the Associated Press has reported. The NCAA decided not to allow Dyer – who transferred from Auburn to Arkansas State in the off-season – to play for the Red Wolves in 2012. Arkansas State had asked the NCAA to allow Dyer to waive its one-year sanction on transfers, but the NCAA denied their application. Although Dyer had a brilliant on-the-field career with Auburn, where he rushed through Bo Jackson’s freshman rushing record in 2010, won a National Championship, and kept an otherwise fairly inept offense afloat in 2011 with 1,200 yards rushing, his off-the-field career was somewhat acrimonious. Georgia looking for life after Crowell – and vice versa

After dismissing Isaiah Crowell on Saturday after their troubled star’s arrest on gun charges, Georgia will be needing another running back to frighten the life out of SEC East defenses in the fall. The job up for grabs will come between sophomore Ken Malcolme, highly-touted Keith Marshall, and freshman Todd Gurley, ESPN says. War Eagle Damn: Auburn QB arrested

Auburn quarterback Zeke Pike has been arrested for public intoxication, WLTZ has reported. The quarterback, who is in the running for the Tigers’ starting job, was arrested on Saturday night. His bail was set to $300. Pike started school at Auburn in January and participated in spring practice. It is not known what playing time this will cost Pike.

Recruiting: Florida adds QB commitment

The University of Florida have added a commitment at quarterback for its 2013 class, Gatorsports.com reported on Monday. Three-star Quarterback Max Staver committed to Will Muschamp’s side, decided to go for Gainseville instead of Dan Mullen’s Mississippi State, who had also given him an offer. Staver, from Brentwood, Tennessee, is ranked the 14th player in the State and the 27th in the country amongst pro-style quarterbacks nationally. “I called them and they asked me if I was ready to be a Florida Gator, and I committed on the spot,” he told the website. Staver had also been shown interest from Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida State, but none of the other schools had offered him yet.
