This weekend wasn't the greatest for the Arkansas Razorbacks, after their top running back, Jonathan Williams, broke his foot in fall camp and is out for the rest of the season. Now, a lot rests on some other players. How is this going to have an affect on the Hogs - who some believe could be battling it out for a SEC West title (or at least be much improved?) The SEC Media Days (July 13-16) don't generally have a whole lot, yet they are still entertaining. We here at the SEC Football Blog LOVE the College World Series (with half of the field coming from the SEC, what good Southerner couldn't?), but we still can't wait until the Fall. Arkansas has lost its running backs coach Joel Thomas to the New Orleans Saints, it has been reported. Sports Illustrated senior writer Thayer Evans tweeted the news first, saying: "Arkansas RBs coach Joel Thomas has accepted same job w/ New Orleans Saints per sources." Last year Arkansas was 24th in the nation in rushing offense, running for 2,834 total yards (218 yards per game). Bret Bielema's press conference should have just said "I'm just sick of losing, and I'll turn this ship around", and stopped there, but it didn't. Bret Bielema isn't much liked in SEC corridors. Maybe it's because he was Wisconsin's head coach. Maybe it's because of his wife and her tweeting ways. Maybe it's because he hasn't won a SEC game. Anyway, Arkansas fans will certainly like him a lot better after a solid National Signing Day - which included getting a player to come play for him instead of National Champion Florida State. South Carolina defensive end, ESPN star and dreadlocked giant Jadeveon Clowney has promised that he will return in 2013 after missing the Kentucky game through bruised ribs. Clowney's decision not to play the Kentucky game really annoyed South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier, who said that Clowney simply: "Didn't want to play". It soon became the biggest story of last week's college football schedule...and maybe the biggest of the year. It wasn't a good week for Jeff Driskel. He saw his season end with a broken fibula against Tennessee.....which he broke while throwing a Pick 6. That capped what has been a fairly awful start to the year. But the good news for the Gators is that they bounced back with replacement QB Tyler Murphy, and the Gators chomped Tennessee, who looked dreadful offensively AND defensively. Oh, and LSU beat Auburn in rainy Death Valley. And Arkansas embarrassed the SEC by losing at Rutgers. It was a weird and wild weekend in the SEC. Georgia and South Carolina played a classic that Georgia finally one (it's been the opposite direction at Sanford between these two recently), Texas A&M struggled with mighty Sam Houston State in the first half of their game (mainly thanks to some terrible defense), LSU's Jarvis Landry and Odell Beckham were bringing the circus to 'circus-like catches' in Death Valley against UAB, and, er, Florida lost at Miami.
