Alabama tops first BCS Standings, Mizzou 5th

Alabama has topped the first BCS standings of the 2013 season. The undefeated Crimson Tide is No.1, followed by Florida State, Oregon, Ohio State, and SEC East leader Missouri. Stanford, Miami, Baylor, Clemson and Texas Tech round out the Top 10. Auburn is No.11, LSU is No.13, Texas A&M is No.16, South Carolina is 21. Interestingly, Alabama only ranked top in two of the five computer rankings, while Florida State ranked No.1 in 4. The whole BCS standings chart is here. Four-star Georgia recruit Brandon Kublanow has told The SEC Football Blog that he’s now uncertain as to whether he will be a Bulldog in 2013 after Mark Richt announced that linebacker / defensive end Brandon Burrows was to transfer. Recruiting: Nation’s top player commits to Clemson

According to reports, the Nation’s No.1 recruit, Robert Nkemdiche, has decided to play for the Clemson Tigers instead of LSU, Alabama or Georgia in the SEC. Twitter was abuzz in the early evening saying the stud defensive end had decided to play his football in the ‘Other’ Death Valley. The player had been recruited across the country, although more heavily by Alabama, LSU, Georgia, USC, South Carolina and Ole Miss. 247Sports, quoting sources, said the player opted for Clemson after an official visit. Recruiting: Auburn adds four-star DE Tashawn Bower

Auburn has added defensive end Tashawn Bower, according to reports. The three-star weakside defensive end from New Jersey opted for Auburn on Tuesday. He said on his Twitter feed: “Just committed to auburn #wareagle“. In another tweet, he asked the media to stop nagging him for an interview: “Dear media please stop calling my phone #it‘s dying”. He’s thought of as the 8th best defensive end in New Jersey, and had a number of offers, including SEC schools Florida, South Carolina, Kentucky and Ole Miss. In fact, there weren’t a lot of schools in the country that didn’t chase him.

Could the SEC bolt for UNC and Duke?

As we know, the SEC is no stranger to expanding its reach. South Carolina and Arkansas came aboard in 1991. Missouri and Texas A&M came aboard in 2012.
