Looking ahead to Cocktail Parties: Post-Week 8 SEC rankings

Alabama’s fun to make fun of for one major reason: The fanbase. If you are nasty about the Crimson, Alabama fans take it so damned personally. I mean, this blog on Twitter just mentioned the fact that Alabama had played only one team of any note this season (Texas A&M), and comparing it to the amount of ranked teams LSU teams played, and Bama fans hit Crazytown. Of course, when the two teams clash in Week 10 it’s going to be something special. But if we’re talking about this year’s schedule for Alabama so far, it sucks.  So why do we think they are the best team in the SEC? Because if I’m honest, I don’t see anyone beating them. Texas A&M Preview: Will ‘The Chief’ Change The D?

Texas A&M’s 2014 was an interesting one. After slaughtering South Carolina on the road, their QB Kenny Hill trademarked his nickname to “Kenny Trill”, and subsequently sucked. So much so he had to be replaced by Kyle Allen. The Aggies could have easily gone 7-6 instead of 8-5 — with a two SEC wins — if Arkansas hadn’t choked at JerryWorld. This was a pretty ugly season, so head coach Kevin Sumlin (possibly to deflect anger from pissed-off Aggies fans) had to make some changes…. SEC! SEC! SEC! Week 5 Predictions

Now that Arkansas has dived so downwards, there is no argument about what is the biggest game in the SEC this week: Tennessee’s trip to Georgia. The last time people were this psyched up for a Tennessee game was a couple of weeks ago. The fans were wearing orange. They weren’t too happy about the Florida result (but then again, they haven’t been happy about that for years!!). But Mark Richt’s appealing to Sanford to ‘be loud’ and wear red. Without being rude, Mark, but isn’t that what Georgia fans tend to wear for games anyway?
