When will Georgia get Todd Gurley back?

Every Georgia fan on Twitter seemed to erupt in celebration with the news that Georgia had applied (well, at least they had at the time of writing since it was 4 hours ago) to the NCAA to get Todd Gurley out of playing purgatory and restated to the team. According to a release from Georgia, the University said that it “plans to file the necessary paperwork with the NCAA later today.” Seth Emerson, a writer from the Macon Telegraph and Columbus Ledger-Enquirer wrote that the “The NCAA and UGA have been working together on Gurley’s situation, so UGA’s request seems almost assured of being approved.” There seems to be no question that Gurley took cash. Both Alabama and Georgia made statements on Saturday. Alabama by shutting down Texas A&M’s offense, Georgia by going to Arkansas and picking up the Win That No-One-But-Vegas-Who-Had-Them-Favored expected, striking a monster blow for SEC East. The dumpster fire in Florida continued as they lost 42-12 to Missouri at home on Homecoming Night, while Ole Miss shut down Tennessee at home. Praise The Lord of beautiful co-eds in burnt orange, white shorts and cowboy boots! Praise The Lord of purple, bourbon, and great food! Praise Him! Praise Him indeed! Something stinks, and it’s called the SEC’s 2015 non-conference schedule. Listen, we know that you in South Carolina will scream: “Hell, well at least WE’RE scheduling Clemson!” and those in Florida will say: “Screw You! We’re playing FSU!” and you would be right. I would ask you to imagine what would happen if both schools decided NOT to play that schedule. South Carolina, for example, would burn, with both ADs crucified on Hilton Head Island. Mike Slive to step down as SEC Commissioner in 2015

Mike Slive has announced that he is to step down as SEC Commissioner at end-July 2015, citing a reoccurring of his prostate cancer. “I have been blessed in more ways than I can count and I will have as much passion for this job on my last day as I did on my first,” said Slive.  “I consider my health situation a temporary detour in a remarkable road that has allowed me to meet amazing people, experience incredible events and celebrate historic victories.  I will relish my final year in this position and look forward to being the biggest fan of the SEC for many years to come.” The release from the SEC said that his prognosis is “good”, although

Mississippi Rolls: Week 8 SEC round-up

Another week, another incredible weekend for the State of Mississippi. Who would have thought that suddenly The Magnolia State would become the Disneyland of football? Oh, and our ears are still ringin’…. 1.   Mississippi State   Despite not having their best day offensively what with all their turnover problems, MSU still came through to beat Auburn amid one of the loudest stadiums ever witnessed. It was awesome to see how pissed off the College Gameday guys were getting with all that clanging. Florida restates Treon Harris

The Florida Gators have reinstated freshman quarterback Treon Harris after his accuser withdrew her complaint, ESPN has reported. Although Harris won’t be playing the LSU game, he is free to return to the team. Will Muschamp, Florida’s coach said: “We have been notified that the University and legal process is complete… This has been a learning experience for everyone involved. Treon has been honest with me throughout the process and is looking forward to rejoining his teammates.” ESPN added: “Harris’ attorneys said Thursday that the accuser was “the sexual aggressor with not one, but two, young men last Sunday morning” and that the woman showed “no indication of any physical or mental trauma” after the alleged incident.“

Gurley suspension puts Georgia in spotlight: Week 7 SEC Predictions

On a weekend that the No.2 team in the nation go and play the No. 3 team, and the team which beat Alabama goes down to a cauldron of noise to play in butt-hurt Texas, it’s funny how one incident can steal a spotlight for another team completely. And that incident and spotlight was stolen by Georgia, which has suspended their Heisman Trophy candidate/frontrunner indefinitely because he was photographed signing autographs (apparently he accepted $400 to do it in the spring). It’s strange, because there’s also spotlight on Florida, which suspended QB Treon Harris while it investigates an accusation of sexual assault against him.
