Week 10 SEC Previews: UGA v Ole Miss, Tennessee v Missouri etc

This week College Gameday is going to ‘The Classic City’ for Ole Miss’ visit to Georgia, which should be a lot of fun. It should provide Georgia with yet another resume game after the victory over ranked Missouri last week, while a win for Ole Miss will leave them still in the hunt for a New Year’s Day Bowl and perhaps the SEC West title. Oh, and everyone can talk about the Lane Kiffin a little more, too. SEC Rankings: Missouri flies up

Georgia: The injury to Brock Bowers is obviously going to hurt the Bulldogs, but the fact that there are alternatives – and good wide receivers that will help Kirby feel happier about life. Also: The defense will be able to step up. As they usually do.  Alabama: The offensive line is less of a problem than people think. SEC: LSU-Auburn ‘highlights’ a pretty bad slate

This week’s SEC isn’t week. It’s simply bad. Zero Top 25 match-ups. One Top 10 team. Two slaughters on the menu. A game between two also-rans in their respective divisions, and one game between teams that will be fighting it out for second place in their divisions. It’s an interesting week in the SEC. There’s the Jimbo Fisher v Nick Saban media-fuelled battle. There’s LSU – fresh from getting buckets of crap thrown at it about their defense, visiting a Missouri side that people are believing in. SEC Preview: Can Lane Kiffin get that big win (at last)?

Lane Kiffin runs his mouth a lot. But he has failed to follow up on it on so many occasions, it’s getting a joke. Here’s a stat: He’s 1-19 against teams who finish up winning 9 games, and 3-7 against teams who end up getting into the Top 25. And last year, Ole Miss was destroyed by LSU in a Jaylen Daniels special. Week 2 Rankings: Ole Miss rules, Georgia needs to play someone

Normally, if a team’s the No.1 team in the nation, then they would usually be No.1 on our SEC rankings. But aside from the fact that Georgia’s schedule is medicore-to-dreadful, they haven’t looked wonderful on offense, and aren’t clicking in enough gears to get the No.1 spot. So here are the rankings: Ole Miss (2-0): Beat Tulane 37-20 and looked increasingly comfortable as the game went on. Judkins is a weapon, and Jaxson Dart is looking increasingly comfortable within the offense. Look, there are still things to iron out (they were 1-13 on 3rd downs), but a ‘scrappy’ offense that wins is better than none at all. SEC Preview: Is Alabama really an underdog?

This is going to sound incredibly silly, but Alabama may well go into this season as an underdog. Not in many games, but in the National Championship discussion. For years, there isn’t an Alabama player that’s been especially memorable. The rock stars  – like Will Anderson Jr or Bryce Young are gone. Jahmyr Gibbs is gone. Henry To’oto’o is gone.  That’s a hell of a lot of talent. The reason for this is simple: Alabama was meant to be everything when Young and Gibbs were anchoring the offense and Anderson, Demarco Hellams, Brian Branch and To’oto’o were anchoring the defense. SEC Preview: Will Petrino’s arrival propel Texas A&M?

2022 and 2023 were meant to be banner years for Texas A&M. Buoyed by a NIL fund worth hundreds of millions, the Aggies recruited its best class in decades. Then, they fell apart. Half of the that group transferred. A&M lost to Appalachian State and played a lot of football, but should have beaten Alabama and DID beat LSU. Jimbo Fisher exercised some excellent restraint, realizing that things weren’t working with him at the offensive reigns, so he brought in everyone’s favorite motorcyle-driving crazy person, Bobby Petrino. Lane Kiffin is on a mission to make a statesman of himself. After failing to get the Auburn job, Kiffin has decided that he’s going to be the Nick Saban, proclaiming the evils of NIL.
