Heart Attack Auburn: SEC Power Rankings After Week 12

There have been great finishes in the SEC season, but maybe none better than the Georgia-Auburn game, when both sides thought they’d won the game. In the end, it was Georgia fans who were once again delivered the heartbreak, once again by a defense who couldn’t do their job properly and a Lady Luck who would not stop by their dressing room. Elsewhere, the Florida misery continued with a loss to South Carolina, Alabama was pretty awful in their win over Mississippi State, and Vanderbilt out-yawned Kentucky in a yawner. SEC Head Coaches: Who’s on the Hot Seat?

S Anyway, our 1-14 of SEC Coaches on the Hot Seat. Hint: If you’re No.14, you’re probably not going to get fired. Other hint: Some of the reasons are just stupid. 1) Will Muschamp (Florida): The offense is useless. The defense is useless. The last two punches in the face will be hit up for 40 by a Florida legend (Steve Spurrier), and hit up for 60 by your hated rival (Florida State). You know, after losing in laughable fashion to Miami and Vanderbilt, and losing to Georgia 3 times in a row. 2) Dan Mullen (Mississippi State): The Bulldogs have gone downhill ever since mid-season 2012. The Bulldogs can’t beat a Top-10 team. Heck, they can hardly beat anybody.

SEC Power Rankings Week 5: Red Rises To The Top

OK, so the best game of the week (predictably) was in Athens, when Georgia took on LSU. The game wasn’t exactly defensively-minded, with the Dawgs coming out 44-41. In other worlds, Alabama reminded Hugh Freeze and Ole Miss that they had a lot of work to do still, while South Carolina and, er, Tennessee survived scares against mighty UCF and the even mightier South Alabama. Oh, and the Tyler Murphy experiment in Florida rolled to 2-0 after they slapped Kentucky. So here are our SEC Power Rankings: 1) Alabama – Beat Ole Miss comfortably. There are still worries about the running game (which came good in the second half), but the defense is one of the best in the SEC.

After Alabama wins, Game Of The Century’, Ole Miss Macks Texas: Week 3 SEC Power Rankings

Sooo…..Alabama beat Texas A&M in the ‘Game Of The Century’, while Ole Miss beat Texas 43-23 to pour on the pressure on tired, beaten and sad-looking Mack Brown, and Kentucky surprised us by only losing to Louisville by 14. And Tennessee surprised nobody by getting annihilated at Oregon. Anyway, here’s our SEC Power Rankings:  1. There’s no denying that Georgia coach Mark Richt is one of life’s good guys. He’s a coach who is also just a really good guy. But Georgia fans don’t want decent guys. If they did, they’d hire a pastor. They want him to get over the hump, and not only win football games, but win BIG football games. Thursday Round-Up: Ole Miss vs Vandy play in classic, unlike Clowney

So, Ole Miss and Vanderbilt served up a classic for any college football fan (like they did LAST SEASON, actually), while Jadeveon Clowney proved why he’s…..oh wait a minute, he didn’t. Insane Clowney Posse? 2013 South Carolina Preview

It was a weird year for South Carolina. Thanks to a two-tier QB system of Connor Shaw and Dylan Thompson, the fact that Shaw seemed to struggle with getting battered by fast SEC players didn’t matter. They won close games. They lost a few, too. They beat Georgia….and still didn’t go to the SEC Championship game because they lost to Florida…..and to LSU. Clowney has $5m insurance policy

South Carolina defensive end and All-American Jadeveon Clowney has a $5 million insurance policy should he get injured in the 2013 season, it has been reported. The policy – which will be paid out via the NCAA should anything go awry next season – will be paid for by family members, and protect against future . The cost is $30,000. Reply to Charleston Post-Courier writer Daryl Slater’s report, Paul Myerberg of USA Today noted that the policy was the largest available to players. The insurance company offering the policy is HCC, based in Cincinnati. On South Carolina’s website, they said: “Student athletes can receive up to $5m in coverage, up from $4.4m in basketball and $3m in football.” The NCAA
