South Carolina announces Hill as starting QB

South Carolina has said that Collin Hill will be its new starting quarterback. The transfer from Colorado State – reunited under new offensive coordinator Mike Bobo – impressed during practice. It was obviously enough to unseat sophomore incumbent Ryan Hillinski. Hill threw for 3,233 yards, 23 TDs and 11 INTs in three years in Fort Collins. He had a 60.7% completion percentage.

Tennessee QB to transfer – reports

Tennessee back-up quarterback Riley Ferguson isn’t expected to return to Knoxville, his coach Butch Jones has said. “As of right now, based on our recent conversations, we do not anticipate that he will be a member of our football family moving forward,” Jones told the News Sentinel. No-one really knows why Ferguson is planning to leave – aside from the fact that it may be something to do with him wanting to be closer to home – but there is a feeling that his departure could cause Jones a headache, particularly with there only being three quarterbacks on the roster – senior Justin Worley, and sophomores Joshua Dobbs and Nathan Peterman.

Kiehl Frazier not going to be Auburn’s 2013 quarterback

Hey, Auburn fans: Kiehl Frazier is definitely NOT going to be your quarterback for the 2013 season. The terrible 2012 quarterback has been moved to safety by coach Gus Malzahn, the new Auburn coach said Monday, and the battle’s going to be between Nick Marshall and Jeremy Johnson. Marshall, a juco transfer and Johnson, a freshman, means that it’s likely Jonathan Wallace won’t get the nod. But there’s still time. According to Yahoo! Sports, Frazier voluntarily moved to safety. Malzahn said in a press conference: “We told them all that, ‘Hey these two new guys, we feel have earned the right to compete for the job and they’re going to get the majority of the reps with our ones this

So who’s the best QB in the SEC?

As y’all know by this website, we spend our time being very, very nice about the SEC. But September rolls closer, we’re going to say a few things that you probably won’t like and certainly won’t agree with. But, as my uncle Hank said to me: “Opinions are like mouthholes. Everyone’s got one” (He may have substituted the word ‘mouth’ for something else, but not on this family website!)”. Listen, No. 1’s pretty good. Then again, so are Nos. 2 and No. 3. We predict all three of them to make a splash around draft-time in 2014, if they can stay injured and out of trouble. 1. Johnny Manziel (Texas A&M) Listen, we all know about the off-season that Johnny

Auburn names Kiehl Frazier starting QB

Auburn has named Kiehl Frazier as its starting quarterback. The sophomore QB threw for just 41 yards and two interceptions last year. But Gene Chizik, Auburn’s head coach, said in a statement: “After a complete and thorough evaluation during spring practice and through the first three-plus weeks of camp, Kiehl Frazier has earned the starting job at quarterback. We expect Kiehl to be a leader for this team and to continue to work hard every day. I am confident in his ability and leadership skills and look forward to watching him progress in both areas.” Frazier beat Clint Moseley and Jonathan Wallace to the starting job – although Moseley’s progress was somewhat hurt by a shoulder injury.

Maxwell Smith named as Kentucky’s starting quarterback

Joker Phillips has made Maxwell Smith his starting quarterback for the 2012 season. Smith, who threw for 819 yards and 4 TDs (and 4 INTs) for the Wildcats last year, was named earlier this week. The new QB told the Courier-Journal: “I heard about it this morning. Coach Joker and Coach Sanders were together and they called me in, and that’s when I found out. I felt good, felt great. That’s what I’ve been working for since I was a little kid, to get a job to start on an SEC team. It might not have been SEC at the time; you know I’m a West Coast guy. It might’ve been Pac-10 at the time, but I’m glad to be

SEC Media Days: Muschamp refuses to name Florida starter

The starting quarterback for the Florida Gators hasn’t been decided yet, according to coach Will Muschamp at the SEC Media Days. He said in his press conference on Wednesday (Quotes from RedandBlack): “Offensively we obviously have a quarterback battle going on with Jacoby Brissett and Jeff Driskel….Two guys that are very even in their competition….They’re even going into fall camp….They’ll get equal reps I would like to name a starter before the season, but I’m not going to put a timetable on that.  If we need to play both of them, that’s what we’re going to do.  We’re going to do what we need to do to win football games. Both guys have a similar skill set. So it’s not like there’s one

South Carolina QB rips Under Armour

South Carolina quarterback Connor Shaw has hammered the Gamecocks kit supplier Under Armour in a Twitter comment today that’s bound to cause ripples around the SEC. Shaw said on Thursday night: “3rd time the sole of my Under Armour shoes have completely busted. Shaw has since taken down his comment. He added on another tweet: “It was just a matter of time“. We can only wonder – are we talking about the foot injuries or the time it took for someone at
