Top Alabama left tackle Cam Robinson was arrested on felony weapons charges alongside teammate Laurence “Hootie” Jones” – a safety in the early hours of Tuesday morning, adding another name to what has been a horrible offseason for Nick Saban and his Alabama program. 6-6, 325lb junior Robinson and Jones were charged with possession of a stolen firearm, as well as misdemeanour drug possession and carrying a weapon in the presence of narcotics. Florida suspends key players

Florida has suspended quarterback Treon Harris and cornerback Jalen Tabor for the Tennessee game. Gators head coach Jim McElwain refused to go into details of the suspension. However, ESPN’s Brett McMurphy said that they came about because Harris had failed a drug test and Tabor had refused to take a drug test, resulting in an automatic suspension. Harris had been battling QB Will Grier for the starting job in The Swamp. He’s passed for 269 yards and 2 TDs in two games for Florida, and run for 55 yards. Alabama RB dismissed after drug arrest while on suspension

Alabama has dismissed running back Tyren Jones after he was arrested in Tuscaloosa on Monday, continuing a horrible streak of arrests for the Crimson Tide. Jones – who was already on suspension from the Alabama team for “conduct not the standard of the Alabama football program” -was arrested for possession of marijuana after his car was stopped for speeding just before midday on Monday. The officer found the marijuana – as well as digital scales belonged to the man in the car with Jones, Brandon Lee Hansberry. Jones was charged with possession of marijuana second degree. Auburn QB Nick Marshall – a key part of Auburn’s stunning 2013-4 National Championship Game run – has been cited in Georgia on possession of marijuana. He was cited in Reynolds, GA for misdemeanor possession of marijuana, after his car was initially pulled over for a tinting violation. A policeman smelt that marijuana had been smoked in the car, and searched the car, finding that less than an ounce was found. The Sporting News noted that with Marshall’s arrest, both starting QBs in this year’s National Championship Game had been arrested after the arrest of Florida State QB Jameis Winston for thieving crabs legs.
