College Football Play-Off firms up future plans

After years of argument, we finally know what’s going on. College Football will have its 12-team play-off, starting in the 2024 season. This gives us one more year of arguing and raging, before we argue and rage about 50 more teams that should have made the 12. Anyhoo, the six highest-ranked conference champions in the 10 college football conferences will earn a spot, as well as six at-large bids. This means that it’s guaranteed that a Group-Of-Give team (or two, which could happen if the Sun Belt continues its upwards trajectory and the AAC continues to vastly improve) gets in, which is pleasing. Rivalry Week: SEC game predictions (plus the other one!)

Week 11 Review: Bad week for Kentucky, another one for Texas A&M

The news that Texas A&M had a shitty weekend is hardly surprising. Jimbo Fisher’s side is on one of the worst slide’s in his career, and certainly in the Aggies’ small SEC history. Week 11 Preview: Can Arkansas nuke LSU’s SEC West plans?

OK. So there’s going to be a fun game in Oxford at 2.30pm God’s time when Alabama goes to Ole Miss to play. There’s the Nick Saban v Lane Kiffin experience (both united over their hatred of Jimbo Fisher), and there’s the old lines getting trotted out about Alabama being on their knees. SEC: Georgia leads the Red Wave

Once again, Georgia found itself in the bright lights of the Nation, and once again, Georgia delivered. No, we’re not talking about the mid-terms, where adverts for candidates became turn-on-silent-and-maybe-go-grab-a-beer-TV for a majority of college football games this season (ESPN+ was the only one not to show any), we’re talking about the absolute savages who dominated Tennessee on Saturday. Harsin out at Auburn: Who’s next?

Finally, Bryan Harsin’s been fired at Auburn. After less than two seasons. The hire was hated by Auburn fans and boosters alike when AD Allen Greene – now departed – ignored the noise, went out West, and brought his coach in from Boise State. SEC Week 6: Tennessee continues to drop jaws, Arkansas just drops

South Carolina scored the most stunning win of the SEC calendar in Week 6 when they beat Kentucky on their own turf. Also, Texas A&M was a dumbass decision away from upsetting Alabama for the second year in a row on its own turf in a game plagued by turnovers, while Georgia happily destroyed Auburn. Otherwise, Tennessee went to Death Valley and destroyed LSU 40-13, Mississippi State took advantage of a porous Arkansas secondary (to put it mildly), Florida beat Missouri and Ole Miss did what was expected of them by beating Vanderbilt with a strong second half performance. Anyway, here are our Week 6 rankings… Tennessee (5-0): We all thought this would be a tight game in Death Valley.
