Drafting from the SEC: Stock tips

OK, so I’m your broker and the stock market is crashing. You look elsewhere, because you’re a gambling addict and you can’t sit on the loose change. ‘Let’s look at SEC Futures’, I tell you. Immediately, you’re thinking I’m talking about the Securities & Exchange Commission, and trying to work out whether the conversation that Larry and you had about bonds in the bar last night could have been eavesdropped by some genius in New York City. ‘No, no. It’s about the NFL,” I reassure you. “You know? The place where the owners couldn’t really give a crap about the fans. Yeah, they provide the atmosphere and add millions to their pockets in stupid merchandising, but it’s all about the

Jake Fromm declares for the NFL, Cade Mays declares for Transfer Portal

Two incidents, two moments, two…..Georgia? After a ton of Bulldog wailing and gnashing of teeth, Georgia quarterback decided that he’d had enough of Sanford, and declared for the NFL. For someone who has got worse as the season has gone on, his decision was questionable to say the least. For us, Fromm – after being taken in the 3rd round at best – is going to be a backup quarterback for a while. He’ll get his chance in 2022, and he’ll do fine. Or he’ll be another Chase Daniel, and make a ton of money as a back-up. Georgia fans love Fromm though. He came in for Jacob Eason after Easton got injured, took the starting job by the scruff

The SEC Championship Game: Preview and Predictions

The Super Bowl 2019 has arrived! Yes, it’s the SEC Championship Game. While it seems a bit of a relief to have someone other than Alabama or Auburn as the SEC West’s representative (LSU is there for the first time since 2011), Georgia seems to be installed in The Big Game, having been there for the last three consecutive years (1-2 record). This year, there’s all to play for. LSU, who are No.2 in the nation behind Ohio State, will definitely go to the College Football Play-Off with a win over Georgia (and probably will get in anyway!), while No. 4 Georgia will definitely get in with a win over LSU, because the Committee are unlikely to jump Utah or

Texas A&M vs Georgia: Barking Predictions

Texas A&M visits Georgia for the first time in its SEC history. For CBS, Gary Danielson will try and sound sympathetic if a football player runs into a photographer (probably for the first time in history), and Brad Nessler will call his buddy ‘pardner’, like he was John Wayne in an ole shoot-out movie (as he does every week). It would be strange if anything else – like an upset in Texas A&M’s favour – happened. But that’s not the important part that you should pay attention. It’s the parallels you should pay attention to: They both have weird affections for dogs Texas A&M takes the affection for the canine to a whole new level. Aggies fans worship Reveille

SEC bitchiness took over the College Football Play-Off

If you believe in such thing as social media noise, then Twitter shouted the loudest. And in particular, the insufferable yelling came from the SEC – and most particularly Georgia and Alabama fans. RANT NO.1: WHY WASN’T GEORGIA IN THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP PLAY-OFF AHEAD OF NOTRE DAME? Georgia fans were screaming their nuts off about the fact that Notre Dame’s blow-out by Clemson meant that they should have been in the blow-out instead of the Irish. “They don’t even have their own conference” said some. “How could the Committee talk about the best four teams? Sure Georgia, in their loss to Alabama, showed that they are one of the best teams in the country?”, groused another. “Notre Dame didn’t play anyone this

Should Georgia or Oklahoma be in the College Football play-off?

And so, it happened. Georgia didn’t have to beat Alabama in the SEC Championship Game to cause bedlam….they just had to play the Crimson Tide close. Close? The Bulldogs damned nearly beat them, ramming the ball down their throat during a first half whirling dervish. The second half was your usual tale of Alabama adjusting, Georgia being a little more conservative – an assinine 4th-and-11 call side – and Alabama have two National Championship-winning quarterbacks to use to take home a 35-28 victory. Earlier in the day, Oklahoma had righted the wrongs of a Red River Shoot-Out by exacting revenge on Texas 39-27, and after the SEC Championship Game, Clemson took care of business against Pittsburgh to win the ACC Title

Top 10 SEC Games of 2017

It’s a strange few weeks in college football. It’s not the summer yet so we haven’t seen SEC players get arrested for robbery, possession of weed, public intoxication, and fights. Spring practice has ended so there are plenty of questions. Players who aren’t going to start are looking to graduate to other programs. We think it’s a childish approach, but then again, that’s just us. So we decided on a retrospective. Here are your top SEC games of the 2017 season. Georgia 54, Oklahoma 48: Down 31-17 at the half of the National Championship Semi-Final, Georgia takes the game to double-overtime before Sony Michel takes it to the house for a 27-yard touchdown. Talk about redemption for Michel: It was his

Who are the SEC players to watch out for in 2018?

Regardless of what the pro-SEC fans say, a lot of stars left the conference in 2017. Just from the National Championship Game, Minkah Fitzpatrick (Alabama), and Roquan Smith (Georgia) are gone in their junior years, while Nick Chubb and Sony Michel (Georgia) departed after four years. The bigs are gone too, with ‘Big’ Bo Scarborough (Alabama) and Da’Ron Payne (Alabama) departing for NFL riches. But that’s not all. From Auburn Kerryon Johnson and Kam Pettway are off, while at LSU Derrius Guice, Arden Key, Kevin Tolliver and Donte Jackson leave. For Texas A&M, the most exciting player in college football – Christian Kirk – is going to take his returning talents to the pros. But despite the amount of heroes

UGA’s Eason to transfer to Washington?

Georgia quarterback Jacob Eason is to transfer to Washington, various media sources have reported. Eason, who was the starting quarterback for the Bulldogs on Week 1 before he was injured against Applachian State, never got his role back thanks to the immense play of freshman Jake Fromm. Now that Georgia has signed five-star QB Justin Fields, Eason – himself a five-star QB out of Washington – must have felt that there was no opportunity for him to succeed in the red and black. A move to Washington isn’t a bad one for him, either. He’s from Lake Stevens, WA, which is a short car ride from UW’s campus. In 2016 Eason threw for 2,430 yards and 16 TDs, averaging at

Will Alabama or Georgia win the National Championship?

Suck it, Ohio State. Suck it, Clemson. Suck it, Oklahoma. The SEC’s got two teams playing in the National Championship game. That’s right – in Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium fans all over America will tune into Monday to a game they most feared: An all-SEC Natty featuring Alabama and – to less an extent – Georgia. Listen to the pundits, and they are hoping and praying that it won’t be boring. They hope it won’t be a 9-6 slugfest. They pray that Brian Daboll or Jim Chaney will come up with some offensive invention to stop that happening. They are hoping for end-zone celebrations and while craziness. They had a lot of that in two previous National Championships – and are
