Settling the whole Georgia 2022 v LSU 2019 debate

Since Georgia won the 2022 National Championship and became the first back-to-back Natty winners since 2011-2 Alabama, people are asking: Would this 2019 Georgia team beat the ‘unstoppable’ LSU team of 2019?   OFFENSES QUARTERBACK JOE BURROW V STETSON BENNETT Burrow’s stats (2019): 402-507 (76.3 completion percentage), 5671 yards, 60 TDs, 6 INTs. 361 yards rushing, 5 TDs. SEC Preview: Can Alabama repeat this season?

Alabama’s National Championship last season was a beauty. They buried defenses on offense, and after the Ole Miss near-debacle, they buried defenses too. But the NFL scourged a team like we’ve never team. The Crimson Tide had SIX first round picks (WRs Jaylen Waddle, DeVonta Smith, CB Patrick Surtain, QB Mac Jones, OT Alex Leatherwood, RB Najee Harris), plus second rounder C Lance Dickerson and DT Christian Barmore and OG Deonte Brown (6th round) and LS Thomas Fletcher (6th round). LB Dylan Moses, TE Miller Forristall, TE Carl Tucker and LB Josh McMillon. To put in in ‘Bama terms, that’s a Heisman winner (Smith), a Heisman finalist (Jones), a possible Heisman-finalist-if-he-hadn’t-gotten-injured (Waddle), one of the best CBs in the country

SEC bitchiness took over the College Football Play-Off

If you believe in such thing as social media noise, then Twitter shouted the loudest. And in particular, the insufferable yelling came from the SEC – and most particularly Georgia and Alabama fans. RANT NO.1: WHY WASN’T GEORGIA IN THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP PLAY-OFF AHEAD OF NOTRE DAME? Georgia fans were screaming their nuts off about the fact that Notre Dame’s blow-out by Clemson meant that they should have been in the blow-out instead of the Irish. “They don’t even have their own conference” said some. “How could the Committee talk about the best four teams? Sure Georgia, in their loss to Alabama, showed that they are one of the best teams in the country?”, groused another. “Notre Dame didn’t play anyone this

Alabama OC Mike Locksley leaving for Maryland

Alabama offensive co-ordinator Mike Locksley is leaving to become the new head coach at Maryland. Locksley was given the Broyles Award earlier this week for being the country’s top assistant coach, helping the Crimson Tide to be one of the country’s best offensive teams. His crowning glory may well be on Saturday with Tua Tagovailoa is given the Heisman Award. “I am thrilled to be returning home and to have the opportunity to lead the Maryland Football program,” Locksley said in a statement. “This has always been a special place for me and my family, and I am honored to take on this role at the state’s flagship institution. Our goal is to create an atmosphere and environment focused on the

Predicting Georgia’s trip to LSU and other Week 7 SEC games

It’s  going to be an interesting week in the SEC. Most people with have their eyes glued to Georgia’s trip to Death Valley. Personally, we wish that it was a 7pm kick-off rather than the 3.30, but that’s because we love a raucous Tiger Stadium (and so will the fans who have to endure the humidity!!). Then there’s Texas A&M’s potentially tricky trip to South Carolina, Florida going to Vandy, Ole Miss playing Arkansas in the ‘Battle of The Worst Teams In The SEC West’, and Tennessee’s trip to Auburn. Oh, and Missouri go to Alabama as the latest sacrificial lambs to Nick Saban’s offense. Anyway, so here we go…. No.2 Georgia (-7.5) at LSU: Our fear for LSU is this:

A return of Johnny Football? Texas and Texas A&M could raise millions for Harvey victims

Texas and Texas A&M fans are both really, really pissed off. They pissed off with their teams. They are pissed off with their coaches. They are pissed off with their administrations. They remain pissed off with each other about their separation thanks to the Longhorn Network and ‘Texas Greed’. And also, they are pissed off because the Texas vs Texas A&M rivalry – which was played for 96 years straight – is no more thanks to the behavior of both schools. What has united the State of Texas has been Hurricane Harvey. Hurricane Harvey was so devastating to Houston as well as the surrounding areas, that people are going to take years to recover from them. United in the grief have

Alabama: The next RB star will be….?

Derrick Henry’s gone, Kenyan Drake’s gone, and T.J. Yeldon’s but a distant and beautiful memory for Alabama fans. The future for the next hero in Tuscaloosa is almost certain to be one or more of these things (not necessarily in this order): A Heisman + 2-3,000 yard season NFL riches A National Championship A SEC West title + Championship Worship from Alabama fans because you beat Auburn and LSU In a bar last night I was shown a video of would-be replacement sophomore Bo Scarborough weave through multiple Michigan State defenders in the CFB Play-Off semi-final win, and it put a smile on my face to think of yet another exciting running back coming out of Tuscaloosa (via Florida). Scarbough has

Who wins the SEC NOT-Heisman Award?

Congrats to Derrick Henry on winning the 2015 Heisman Award. It was deserved (Note: If the award had been given to Stanford’sChristian McCaffery it would have been deserved too). So now we were thinking about the SEC NOT-Heisman Award, given out to the Top Five SEC Players who have let us down the most this year. And here’s ‘The Power 5’ on our list: Duke Williams (Auburn)  In 2014 he was something special, catching 45 receptions for 730 yards and 5 TDs in a breakout season. The hops he had was frightening. We all expected him to scare the life out of opposition defenses during 2015 en route to being the best wide receiver in the SEC, and maybe the country. However,
