In shocking news, another UGA player arrested

In shocking news, this weekend news emerged that yet another UGA player had been arrested – the seventh this off-season. This time it was reserve lineback Davin Bellamy for DUI and speeding in Athens. According to the Athens Banner-Herald, Bellamy was “clocked going 52 in a 35 mph zone heading east on College Station Road in Athens at 2:58 a.m when his 2001 Volvo was pulled over in the Kroger parking lot.” And when police smelt booze on his breath, he failed the sobriety test and police noted that he had “red, watery eyes“. UGA safety transferring to Louisville

Josh Harvey-Clemons, the former Georgia safety, is to transfer to Louisville, it has been reported. Harvey-Clemons, who was booted from Athens in February after breaking a number of team rules (which earned him an impressive tally of suspensions), was keen to stay with former Georgia defensive co-ordinator Todd Grantham, who left for Louisville and new coach Bobby Petrino in the off-season. Harvey-Clemons amassed 66 tackles, three fumble recoveries and an interceptions for the Dawgs last season, despite being suspended for two games.

Georgia boots star safety

Georgia has revealed that it has dismissed star safety Josh Harvey-Clemsons. Harvey-Clemons, who had already been suspended for the first three games of the season for more problems involving his relationship with cannabis, as well as Georgia’s 2014 Bowl Game loss to Nebraska. Georgia has not made any other details available. BOTTOM LINE: Harvey-Clemons being booted off the team is hardly surprising, but it doesn’t do Georgia’s secondary any favors going into its mouthwatering clashes at the start of the season with Clemson and Georgia.

Former Georgia TE signs to Alabama

Former Georgia tight end Ty Flournoy-Smith has signed his letter of intent to Alabama, the player confirmed. “It’s confirmed“, he tweeted. Flournoy-Smith, who was booted out of Georgia for filing a false police report for some stolen books that he’d sold, as well as admitting to smoking marijuana with DB Josh Harvey-Clemsons, who was recently caught for doing it and banned for the first three games of this season. Flournoy-Smith went to Georgia Military Junior College, where he did a great blocking job. He will be expected to do the same in an offense which is going to feature two of the best running backs in the country in TJ Yeldon and Derrick Henry.

Georgia suspends top safety for first three games of 2014

Georgia has suspended top safety Josh Harvey-Clemons for the first three games of the 2014 season after once again ‘violating team rules’, following on from the player’s suspension from the Bulldogs’ loss in the Gator Bowl to Nebraska. Harvey-Clemons will miss Georgia’s home game against Clemson, the road game at South Carolina, and the home game against Troy. With him missing (and if there’s no immediate improvement with new DC Jeremy Pruitt), the Dawgs could easily go 1-2. Georgia secondary ripped apart by injuries

The best news for Clemson fans came from Athens, UGA on Tuesday, when it emerged that the entire Georgia secondary is nursing injuries at the moment, per a report from the Macon Telegraph, quoting Bulldogs head coach Mark Richt. According to Richt, starting cornerback Damion Swann (hip flexor and groin strain) and cornerback Sheldon Dawson – who is thought of as being the starting cornerback (shoulder sprain) were both limited in practice. Starting free safety Tray Matthews (strained hamstring), strong safety Corey Moore (sprained knee) and projected reserve corner Devin Bowman (strained hamstring) haven’t even started. SEC Media Days: Richt suspends Georgia starter

It’s not Spring if a Georgia starter hasn’t been arrested before an important game. Last year, it was Bacarri Rambo and Alec Ogletree. This year, Georgia coach Mark Richt suspended starting safety Josh Harvey-Clemsons was suspended for marijuana use, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. “The player was implicated was implicated in an incident involving the use of marijuana in a UGA dorm room on May 15,” the AJC reported.
