New ’24 schedule sets up some SEC monster clashes

The arrival of Texas and Oklahoma may have people fuming about the teams voting not to go to a nine game schedule, but this hasn’t stopped the SEC from putting together some monster clashes for the 2024 year, which will lack divisions. THE ‘WE JUST WALKED INTO A CAULDRON’ TEAM Texas will play Georgia and Florida at home, while going on the road to Arkansas (who hate their guts) and Texas A&M (who hate them even more). There’s also the Red River Rivalry to boot. Oh, and they also travel to the Big House to play Michigan (Home dates with Kentucky and Mississippi State and a road game at Vanderbilt make it a bit palatable, but STILL). This year was a weird year in the SEC, because only one coach was hired in the offseason, and that was the utterly polarizing, utterly dislikable Hugh Freeze by Auburn. The news that Texas A&M had a shitty weekend is hardly surprising. Jimbo Fisher’s side is on one of the worst slide’s in his career, and certainly in the Aggies’ small SEC history. Week 9 Preview: Could Ole Miss put Jimbo in semi-serious trouble?

SEC Week 6: Tennessee continues to drop jaws, Arkansas just drops

South Carolina scored the most stunning win of the SEC calendar in Week 6 when they beat Kentucky on their own turf. Also, Texas A&M was a dumbass decision away from upsetting Alabama for the second year in a row on its own turf in a game plagued by turnovers, while Georgia happily destroyed Auburn. Otherwise, Tennessee went to Death Valley and destroyed LSU 40-13, Mississippi State took advantage of a porous Arkansas secondary (to put it mildly), Florida beat Missouri and Ole Miss did what was expected of them by beating Vanderbilt with a strong second half performance. Florida moved to Sunday, South Carolina to Thursday as Ian starts hitting

The SEC and other conferences will also be affected by Hurricane Ian, which is currently hammering the Florida coast. Florida‘s game with Eastern Washington has been moved to noon on Sunday, where viewers can watch it on ESPN+. Obviously, people with tickets for Saturday’s game can go on Sunday, but we are expecting The Swamp to have a pretty sparse crowd.
