Three Texas A&M players arrested

Three Texas A&M football players have been arrested on outstanding warrants, it has emerged. Wide receiver Edward Pope, defensive linesman Gavin Stansbury and defensive back Howard Matthews Jr were all arrested on Thursday night. KBTX in College Station tells the story like this: “College Station Police stopped a 2008 Pontiac on Texas Avenue, around 11:40 p.m. Thursday, for an expired registration. Edward Pope, a sophomore wide receiver, pulled into the Freebird’s parking lot. When police ran his license, they discovered Pope was wanted on a College Station municipal warrant for Failure to Appear. So, they arrested him. In an attempt to find someone who could drive Pope’s car, police ran Gavin Stansbury’s license. Turns out, the senior defensive lineman he

The Injuries Mount: Texas A&M starter out for year

The injuries seem to be mounting in the SEC, with bad news now flowing to College Station, Texas, where Texas A&M revealed that senior starting defensive tackle Kirby Ennis was out for the season after tearing his ACL in the win over Arkansas. He was helped off the field in the victory at the Razorbacks in a rainy Fayetteville. He’s didn’t have a great off-season, where he was arrested on a gun-related charge, and Texas A&M truly missed him against Rice, where they struggled against the Owls’ fast-paced offense. He was suspended. Well now, he’s out for the season. BOTTOM LINE: Texas A&M defense was struggling (to put it nicely) even before Ennis got injured. Aggies fans will be depending

LSU RB Hill not going to jail or getting kicked off team

Jeremy Hill’s immediate future is not behind bars, it seems. The star LSU running back was given extra community service after admitting simple battery in a fight outside a bar in Baton Rouge earlier this year – despite violating the terms of a parole given to him as a high schooler. Jeremy Hill called a press conference, which he went to with Les Miles, his coach in tow. Miles had indefinitely suspended the player for the fight. In a statement at a press conference (thanks, Tigerbait.com), he said: “I would like to thank Coach Miles and this university for giving me another chance to play football. I would like to apologize to my teammates and the community.” Miles added that Hill

Should Les Miles Boot His Star LSU Running Back?

LSU starting running back Jeremy Hill has admitted to simple battering – along with a friend – for sucker-punching a 20-year old man outside Reggie’s bar in Tigerland, after video evidence emerged of his attack. He was sentenced to two years’ probation – although may still face jail time for a violation of probation for an earlier offence (details below), when he discusses his parole in late August. The video of the attack is here. It’s not pretty viewing.  Hill must attend anger management classes, has to stay away from social media, pay $375 in medical expenses to Connor Baldridge, and will be under a curfew – although will be ‘suspended’ for football-related activities.  He also must write a letter of apology

Texas A&M players arrested for bar fight, could be out for Bama showdown

Texas A&M players Dante Everett and Floyd Thomas Raven have been arrested for their part in a bar fight in College Station in April. Everett, a starting cornerback, and Raven, a starting safety, were both handcuffed on Monday, according to the Bryant-College Station Eagle. They will face charges of assault (2) and criminal mischief (1). Both players were expected to start for the Aggies in the fall. Now, it is not known whether they will even start for the Aggies in the biggest game of the Aggies season- and possibly the school’s history – against Alabama at Kyle Field on September 14th. The Eagle details the police report, which says: “The arrest report states that Everett admitted to police that
